As a water enthusiast I'm always looking for a quick ways to get to the water as a way of relaxing and rejuvenating myself. I have been seeing signs in Hayward that said water access, so I decided to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised to find within 10 minutes I could be looking out at the bay and waves. There's several trails that you can hike around the marshlands. Some even with your dog off leash. There was only one bench so if you feel you want to walk and sit for a while you might need to bring your own chair. It's actually a decent walk from where you park to where the water is oh, so if you can't walk far this may not be the spot for you. And of course don't leave anything visible in your car because the place where you park your car is actually kind of remote and isolated. And most of all most importantly pay attention to the time that the parking lot closes which I believe is 7 and you have to park outside...

Just a peaceful walk on the bay with the wild life the birds water and not a lot of people, most people are wearing mask when they near each other. They have a wierd dog restriction on one side. One side of the park allows dogs and the other side don't but there is no sign where the line is that permits dogs so a lot of people ignore the signs. It's not a lot of dogs ever, but they do have some owners who think their dogs don't bite and they let them off their leash, which I hate. Overall it's a great place to ride a bike Stroll with family and friends and wear your mask. I hope you all enjoy it. It's like getting away from the city in the city... You can often hear yourself thinking it's so peaceful. Correction: there is a sign where the dog limits stop. It's down by the water, at a little bridge over the water spillway going in the other direction. It's a sign...

This address takes you to the right place! It says dead end but there are 2 parking areas. The one you see first is unofficial and actually has gates that open up to the off leash dog 🐕 friendly side (See pic below). If you drive further in is the official parking lot where that is also a restroom. This area all you’ll see is no dog signs.

The dog friendly side we walked 3 miles out and back but you can definitely go out further. A good amount of people out enjoying the sun but not crowded at all. Most people had dogs on their leash and picked up their small dogs when they saw mine coming by.

Loved being surrounded by water and even a glimpse of San Francisco skyline. 😎

My pup 🐶 enjoyed chasing all the squirrels 🐿 too!

I also saw people bird 🦅 watching? They had some hardcore cameras 📷 with the mega...

If you are looking for an alternative to a dog park, this is it. Located at the end of Winton Ave (off I880, take Winton West til it ends), park out side the Park on the gravel area next to the fence. Do not go into the "Park " area (no dogs allowed there) but on the west side fence line there is an opening. Dogs are allowed off leash (please make sure that they are friendly since there are other dogs and people using the area) On the right hand side is a map of the area and a little further are even doggie waste bag for use. It is 1/2 mile to the shoreline and many hiking trails along the way. Place to play fetch in the water (driftwood abounds) and let your dog roam to his/hers hearts content, or take a blanket and soak in the sun.
