When i first moved here 4 years ago the place had a poorly kept fountain/pond and was infested with waterfowl. The pathway littered with droppings as well as the surrounding grass area. And i swear on my life there was a dead beaver or muskrat or some kind of gopher that bloated from being submerged and left to rot jn the sun sitting belly up shore side of the east side of the fountain/pond. Needless to say that was the only time we really went there. I just wanted to see the park my HOA fee paid for.
Flash forward a couple years or so and they took that damn pond out and put up some new baseball/softball fields and other things and the waterfowl up and left now leaving a seemingly easier to maintain park and I feel less swindled
One thing I have to say not having kids yet myself the only reason I go to the park is for the dog park area and my 2 dogs. The dog park itself is a small chain linked fenced off area with a few picnic tables. A bunch of pot holes on the left side and tanbark which fence of as this writing is in minor disrepair. Also the water fountain is inconviently placed a good walk away and what they do provide is those $3 buckets from home depot filled with water from god knows when. At the risk of sounded snobby, I don't let my dogs drink from them. It'd be nice if they included dog friendly water fountains which I know would cost money and irrigation but from reading the San Lorenzo briefs they spent $53,000 to refurbish the village hall bathrooms, $10,410 to update the computer database which I don't even understand what that is and needs $10k for. It cost $2,290 to replace the office flourescent lights and I could've picked up a bunch of $20 one from my Uncle in law. A lot of this stuff seems to be for the office and its workers and when I compare that to what the spent on the village general it seems like they got more. What I'm saying is an updated dog park would've been nice as well.
There's so much unused field it could be extended a bit and it'd be nice to have the dog friendly fountains and maybe the nice buffer, entrance area to leash or unleash your dog before you enter the park and make it harder for the more enthusiatic dogs from...
Read moreI always visit this place . During my last visit there were just few people not crowded, there was no games and parking was available. Maybe because it was a Monday and we were there at around 1pm to 4pm. We love to wait for the sun to set by the duck pond, because you will have the best view there. The plaza had just recently undergone some renovations and they really did a great job. Dog park became better, and it seemed that the park became wider and brighter. Definitely lots of parking spots and restrooms were clean and available in different places of the park. Usually, people bring their dogs here , ideal place to walk your dog at the same time you can also do your walking routine to keep fit. The one thing I like about this plaza is the basketball courts. They should build basketball courts, volleyball courts, baseball fields in the different Parks, to encourage the new generation to do more of physical activities to keep them healthy instead of purely video games. A little fresh air for the young ones will make a difference in their over all wellness . They will be healthier physically and their social skills will be develop thru these outdoor sports . They will be more sociable, thus their positive attitude towards dealing with others will be promoted. Our children will grow more to be a "well rounded" individuals. Lessen the exposure to violence and pornography as brought about by the video these modern technology. I am not against changes and modernization they also have some perks. However, going to the Parks and playing sports could bring balance and consequently we can see a brighter and peacefil future for today's generation who will one day be the leaders of...
Read moreI had my daughter's 1st birthday here in 2020 on Labor Day weekend. It was a lot of fun with great weather. The park was very clean and spacious. All my guests loved it. The kids had a great time and had enough room for a potato sack race on the open grass. The park is right off the water, so you'll feel a nice cool breeze here and there even tho it's hot, plus it has the beautiful duck pond.. alot of grass, benches, and concrete benches too. (Not sure if that's the right name for it.) It's a multifunctional park with a basketball court, more than one baseball field, a soccer field, and two areas of the playground. It also has a walk path for the exercisers and a numerous amount of exercise machines. Don't even need a gym membership to use it. Lol I forgot to mention the two on site Community halls, which are now in renovation and the tons of parking. They have done a wonderful job with the upgrades to this park even though I haven't seen the " before phase," just heard about it. lol. For many years, I have heard people talking about pretty interesting things going on at the duck pond. Anyway I highly recommend this park. This is really what you call a community park because it serves many needs for the community. Hi 👋 five SLCCP. Keep up the great work!
