Victoria's Candies Inc — Attraction in Hazleton

When we think of Hazleton, so often the first thing that comes to mind is Hazleton Food, right? These are foods we have eaten for decades from businesses that are family owned and use only quality ingredients, etc. Victoria's Candies (a gourmet confectionery) is one of those staples for me.

Victoria's is 85+ years old! What a run! Though in a new, modern location, the business is the same, so too the commitment to the quality for which they are well known. Their variety is tremendous.

I was so happy to speak with Angelo, one of the business's principles, whose pride in both the business and community at-large is palpable. Angelo related that their candy is produced using the same equipment his grandparents used in addition to the same unchanged recipes. The staff is very delightful as well!

My personal favorites: Butter Creams, Molasses Coconut, Chocolate Covered Caramels, Caramel and Marshmallow, Chocolate Covered Pretzels, all the Creams, all the Jellies, Fruit Jelly Beans, Peanut Butter YumYums because they're really good and I like saying "YumYums". It's all wonderful!

Victoria’s Candies is in the zip code right next to Heaven! How many times over the past fifty years have I looked forward with such anticipation to walking into this wonderful place? Whether it was the store on Laurel Street, their branch at the Mall or now off the Hazleton Beltway you walked in with the knowledge that it was going to be good, real good. Talk about kid in a candy store! I just did my annual pilgrimage, now a two hour drive, to go into the Beltway store and pick up a bunch of boxes for the special people back home and to oversee those packages Victoria’s ships all over creation for me at Christmas time. Naturally, I took advantage of the opportunity to have my own personal 2 pounder hand picked from the display in the store. So hard to pick only two pounds; but, I know Victoria’s is going to be there for a long, long time because they’re so darn good! I have always loved Victorias candies and have ordered them over the holidays for the many years since I’ve left the Hazleton area. However this will be the last Christmas I order from them. I received a 2 lb box of Virginia dainties in horrible condition and emailed and called and sent pictures of the condition they were received in. Instead of being sent in two separate one pound boxes they were sent in one flat two pound box and were completely smooshed. The person whom I contacted just stopped responding to me and I received neither a refund or new order. They are way too expensive to just accept this. I’m very...
