OVERSHINE & COMUNITÁ VIBES - Had the opportunity to visit Overshine & Comunitá Wines recently and the experience was NEXT LEVEL. Just walking into the tasting room, surrounded by Stevie Wonder, Isley Brothers, & De La Soul vinyl with a record player with a restored Macintosh receiver and Klipsch speakers - off top, made me feel right at home. The attention to detail - from the wine labels to the cozy, mid-century modern space - every decision is made with intent and you taste that in each glass.
We kicked off with a beautiful Provençal style rosé that paired perfectly with goat cheese then rolled into a Sauvignon Blanc with perfect acid and a bit of roundness. That was followed by two Pinots from the Russian River AVA that showcased Pinot’s ability to beautifully express terroir. Finally, a bold Zinfandel brought me back to my some of my favorite early wine memories of drinking rich Zinfandel with big family meals… But they saved the best for LAST. Owner David Drummond sat with us and shared wines from his passion project Comunitá Wines. We then proceeded to go on a ride through Italian inspired wines made to honor both Sonoma terroir and Italian tradition. Friulano, Pinot Grigio made in the Ramato style, Refosco, & Sciava were all refreshing & inspiring. The wines were all delicious & crafted with organically farmed grapes but, most importantly, they make you feel DOPE. Low alcohol levels and bright acidity pair well with vibing to your favorite music, a wide variety of meals, or chopping it up with new friends about life and the passion to live ALL your dreams. Truly a tasting to remember:
The vibe was impeccable — music, culture, dope humans, & wines that transported me yet made me feel at home. It’s more than wine, it’s how it makes you feel. Dope Wines, Dope...
Read moreOvershine is a fantastic update of the former Armida winery. The new incarnation presents a chill spot to enjoy some great wines set to a groovin' sound track with great views.
We visited for the first time in around 7 years thinking it might not be the Armida winery we enjoyed in the past. Well, that was true but in a really good way... Overshine has retained some of the original favorite zins while creating a vibe that's completely welcoming and relaxed.
The $35 patio 90 minute tasting is a very fair price with no pressure to join the club or other sales tactics that can ruin a winery experience. Christopher was completely tuned into our group's preferences and made the visit feel like we were hanging out with a long-time friend. We would have been there much longer enjoying our fall afternoon if we didn't have to leave for our next appointment.
Do yourself a favor and reserve a tasting at this wonderfully reimagined...
Read moreI have been an Armida club member for over 25 years and had my very first, very unpleasant experience this Sunday at Overshine, with my family. While I admit the ownership change was inevitable, I was shocked with all the sudden harsh changes but the one that was the last straw was when we were approached by one of the staff that told us that we couldn't enjoy our picnic deli sandwiches on their property. Said it was a permit issue, but I have never heard of that and they don't sell sandwiches there. We left because we didn't think it would be good to drink on an empty stomach. Pours were small the the wait in between was too long. Needless to say, I will cancel this membership. Good luck to them. I will...
