We were invited to do yoga in the canyon with some friends on a Saturday morning, and since we were halfway to Heber, we thought we’d check out this cool museum afterwards (it had good reviews online and we like museums. : ) I’d seen the small airplanes and gliders flying around here all my life whenever coming up this way (I live in Provo), but never appreciated there was a museum next to the airport. It absolutely did not disappoint. My husband and two teen daughters were toured around and able to see the variety of neat things packed into and around this hangar as well as climb on and in(!) awesome vintage WWII aircraft! In the meantime, I got to converse with genial first-class retired aviators who were so thoughtful in teaching me things, sharing some of their incredible experiences, and making my visit truly enlightening. I didn’t get a chance to thank them to the extent that I wanted to. You can walk in on any Saturday all summer long and visit for free (or leave a donation of any size) and even schedule a flight (with advanced arrangements) on either a vintage bi-plane or a veteran WWII plane (for a much larger donation ; ). The museum is beautifully laid out with loads of historical artifacts and tributes to specific airmen. It does need better signage coming from the south, but after some turning around and a few misguesses, we were able to find it. Fascinating, educational, and inspiring, thanks especially to the incredible...
Read moreSuch a wonderful gem of a museum. We were worried there wouldn't be much to see, but the museum side was jam packed with fascinating memorabilia. We only stayed an hour, but we could have stayed much longer, especially thanks to the amazing volunteers who run it. They were so knowledgeable and kind, and it is obviously a labor of love that they perform in keeping this piece of history accessible to others. We were so grateful for the way they helped history come alive. They truly care about stories they are telling and the people behind them. If you're ever passing through on day they are open, it is 100%...
Read moreThe best little air museum we have found! Not like a big museum where you just wander around and read about it, this little museum has volunteers who love what they do and tell you everything you want to know about the things they have on display. You can get up and look into the planes and jeep. Most importantly, this is an all Volunteer group that depends on donations. They only suggest a $5 donation to come in but we all gave an extra $20 per person because we had so much fun!...
