This is a gem of a trail! We biked the 12 miles from the visitor center to Lake View, then back. 90% of this trail section is shaded (though by noon there's more sun through the treetops). Biking on the morning of July 4th, the only other person we saw was a park ranger. The facilities at the visitor center are marvelous, and the historic information at the Lake View stop is educational and interesting. Make the effort, you'll enjoy this well maintained, beautiful, peaceful trail. Like for us, it might be just you and the dragonflies and butterflies!

A small, but quiet park. Primitive tent camping. Visitors center isn't much, but the man on duty was very friendly and informative. He had knowledge of several state parks in the area and the eastern side of Arkansas. He was even a bit knowledgeable about a few parks on the other side of the state. Not to take away from him, but the speckled king snake on display is one of the prettiest I have ever seen. Absolutely stunning. Not much else to do here except hike and bike.

Camping is OPEN since June 1st. Had a great night's stay here. Fee is $14, pay at front if no envelopes in the box. If beyond closing time, just pay in the morning. Sites are walk-in only, park vehicles in the parking lot. I suggest if you need water, use the refill station near the cycle repair spot in the parking lot. Sites are in excellent condition just watch out for the slippery wood lining the gravel. Highly reccomend coming here for a primitive night's stay!

As an outdoor adventurer, state parks are my go to place to visit. Delta Heritage Trail State Park was an absolute delight. The trails are absolutely beautiful. I unfortunately was so enthralled with this one I forgot to take pictures lol. As a photographer this is definitely a photo opportunity for portraits. If you are looking for the gift shop to add to your collection of Arkansas State parks, this is one that needs to be visited. Especially if your next stop is 26 minutes down the road to The Louisiana Purchase State Park. If you are looking to get your Arkansas Passport stamped they do have a stamp inside. If you visit after closing, they also have a Passport station outside. Both convenient obviously. They have bathrooms if you need a pit stop before heading to the next stop. The staff is helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. There are lots to do in the area as well if you want to make a day. Picnic areas, bathrooms, trails to explore. Down the road is restaurants, gas stations and more. D.H.T. State Park is sitting in a historical part of Arkansas that has much to offer. This is definitely one you would need to take your time to explore. As a historian, this...

A relatively new, well maintained and adventurous trail for a lovely spring or summer morning or evening ride especially from Mellwood, Arkansas south. Can’t wait til the work is complete across the rivers connecting the north and south sides together! Then the section from Mellwood south across the rivers or vice versa, in my opinion will be some of the best riding for the habitat views on the entire trail! Well worth the trip! North bound or south bound bikers needing a place to stay, look no further than Delta Oaks Lodge less than a quarter mile to the east from Mellwood,...
