My boys (5 & 8) have been playing Hempfield Red soccer since they were two and four. This is my 5 year old’s third season and my 8 year old’s eleventh season. They really do a good job teaching the boys the basics of the game and how to play when they’re little (even when they’re older if they are just getting in to it) and with setting up the teams and the schedules. This past June (2019) they finally got a new rec director and there have been some great improvements thus far. The grounds are always kept very nice and it is evident that all four of the soccer fields and all equipment is well taken care of. The only downfall at the soccer fields is that there are no restrooms for use up at the fields. You either have to walk all the way down to the etc office or hold it!

My husbands side of the family has a reunion there every two years there. We were greatful for the pavillion to protect us from the sun, on one of the hottest days this Summer and the electrical outlets for our fans. As well as, being able to stay gathered, despite the tremulous down pour in the late afternoon. The attached kitchen was wonderfully equiped with a large refrigerator, stove and sink, with plenty of prep area. The restrooms located on the backside of our Pavillion were and always have been clean. And we are already set to gather together there again in two years! I hope this review helps. The way they constructed this public park as it has grown has shot this park straight to the top as one of the best in Westmoreland county. Tons of fields for all types of sports, newly constructed dog parks, and the best part is the playground. They have made the area appropriate to accommodate all ages, including adults with their extra large 3 level jungle gym next to the smaller jungle gym so it accommodates all ages and sizes.

We came for a quick play session and the equipment didn't disappoint. Our family of five spun around on the in-ground merry go round feeling the angular momentum. (Science!😉) The tube slides, climbing ropes, loops, rocks and bars, musical instruments and even the silly giggle box. 😂 We had a great time! Definitely recommend. Also, shout out to whoever did the awesome chalk art. (See pics)

This is a very good park to visit as it has the necessary public facilities a park should have. It has public restrooms, a cricket pitch, a baseball field, a nice pathway that leads you to the main "park". Overall it's amazing and is a place that should be visited almost every week. Take your dogs with you!!
