Disappointed by the Splash Pad Area and Overall Maintenance
I visited the Bark Park at Heritage Park mainly to check out the dog splash pad, but unfortunately, I couldnāt find much information beforehand, so I wanted to share my experience and hopefully save others some time.
There is a large splash pad area, but itās not fenced in, so you canāt safely let your dog off-leash. Thereās also a very small fenced-in splash zone with two fire hydrants that spray water, but you have to keep holding a button for the water to work, and the area is mostly taken up by rocks, making it even more cramped.
We ended up going to the regular dog park area instead, but that was also disappointing, very poorly maintained, with dog waste everywhere and a water fountain seem to be leaking making a huge puddle full of stagnant, dirty water.
Itās a shame because this park has potential to be amazing with just a little upkeep and a few thoughtful changes. As it stands now, I wonāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis dog park is great. There are 3 sections: small, large, and a mix of both. They have a maintenance rotation betweet the 3 sections to allow grass to grow back and to clean from urine, which is fantastic bc it gets stincky in the summer (not that I'd know bc it's my 1st summer here but it already smells). Anyway, the people are really nice and friendly. I've only been during the morning and people say "good morning", make great conversation, and ask how you are. Ppl bring dog toys and leave them for dogs to play with. Dogs share all toys. I really like that since I'm moving and all of my dogs toys are currently in boxes. Also, they have a water splash section; it allows your pup to cool off, it's fantastic! All worth 5 star rating, however, my dog LOVES to submerge himself in water. He does not like splashers. I would like to see a waterhose and a tub in the large dog section. I think it would benefit other dogs, not just mine. Overall, this is a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really like this park. I appreciate they have separate mini water parks, 1 for kids and 1 for your dogs. For the most part, people are friendly and most dogs are too. I have been there 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The first 2 times were no trouble, but the third time my dog was attacked by 3 dogs. The owner of 2 did try and help separate the dogs while the owner of the single dog was in a conversation with a few other dog owners and not watching their dogs.
Update: Most of the dog owners are great and responsible for their pets. Occasionally you might meet someone who thinks they own the park and can keep a field to themselves by saying their dog is aggressive even though the rules specify "No aggressive...
