My wife and I got married last October. With work we weren't able to take a "proper" honeymoon so we opted to see what our state had to offer for mini day trips for the week.
This is where Common Ground comes in. I'm terrified of heights, ziplining was on the missus bucket list, so that's what we did.
The guides were absolutely amazing through the entire thing, from their manner when we first got there to when we left I have no complaints. It didn't matter if you were ready to go from the second you got out of your car or a bit more timid (Okay, I was horrified, happy?) They reinforced through the entire thing that "This is your experience too, if you need to take a minute that's okay, don't worry about anyone else, it can take as long as you need to", and I couldn't appreciate them more for that.
The only critique I could give is; Have an area where an inexperienced person can test the rappelling, even if it's only a few feet off the ground to see how it feels. This was the hardest part of the entire thing for me (hate heights remember?), They have you test the zipline gear on a low cable before you go up, explain the stats of the equipment and after that adrenaline and having felt what it was like to go across a steel cable, even 5 ft off the ground gives you enough confidence to go with it.
Then, at the end, you're attached to a rope and pulley after watching a guide rappel down, and told it's your turn. No other way down, you have to rappel. I eventually got down thanks to the amazing patience of the guides, but I would have felt better having experienced dangling from a rope and pulley before hand.
Overall: I highly recommend them if you're looking for a fun day trip with a friend or partner, the staff is wonderful and the experience is...
Read moreWe bought this tour for our kids for their birthday. They turned 21 and 23. They had fun on the tour. They really enjoyed the zip lines. They said the guides were very friendly and helpful. I would NOT recommend the photo package. I paid for the package expecting 30-40 photos of the tour, of my kids. When I got the packaged emailed to me, I think there were about 8 of my kids, the rest were of other people on the tour. And I paid for one package for EACH of my kids, so that would mean 60-80 photos. So in essence, I paid $13.14 for about 8 pictures. The few photos I did get of my kids were ok.. Save yourself some money, don't buy the...
Read moreMy daughter and I recently visited Common Ground Canopy Tours in Oberlin, Ohio, and we had an absolutely fantastic time! The experience was unforgettable, thanks to our amazing guides, Jerrod and Katelyn, who were both informative and entertaining throughout the tour.
The highlight for us was the thrilling ride on the 7 ziplines over the stunning Vermillion River valley. The views from up in the canopy were simply breathtaking. We felt safe, well-informed, and thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
Thank you, Common Ground Canopy Tours, for an incredible adventure! We highly recommend this to anyone looking for an exciting and memorable...
