This little hidden gem is AMAZING! You can visit for free, although I was so happy after my guided tour, I joyfully added to the donation box. So much time and money has been carefully invested in the restoration. Whether you're from the area or just an outside visitor, the history here is fascinating. Unfortunately, I visited too close to closing time so I only got to spend an hour. I would definitely want to spend at least twice that to see more detail. It has an attached sheriff's quarters that was state of the art at the time. You will definitely want to leave time for that. Make sure you have someone guide you through.
