We really enjoyed tent camping at Lake Herman. We chose to go midweek and we practically had the park to ourselves. The camp host was super friendly and helpful. We didn't know they had kayak and canoe rentals so that was an added bonus to the swimming, biking, hiking and campfire cooking. There are two spots that are tent only. They basically share the same ridge so I would suggest taking both. I think if it's busy, they won't be as private as some campgrounds have their tent spots but they have a nice view and are walking distance from showers, beach and playground!

Nice very clean camp park. The showers were very clean and hot! So nice in fact the my boyfriend forgot his stuff lol. So impressed that he walked out without his face cleaning brush and soaps. The Lake is beautiful and quiet great place to sit and relax with lake in front and pond behind our rv we loved having water all around. Making reservations was easy and priced right. The town is so cute and friendly I hope we get a chance to come back.

Came on a Thursday and rented cabin 2. Very beautiful park with a well maintained beach...kids loved it. The cabin was very clean and grounds well maintained. My kids also enjoyed the playground. Make sure to visit the historic Luce cabin and family cemetery when you visit cool place to check out.

I feel lucky to live so close to Lake Herman State Park. The park is beautiful, with a diversity of wildlife. Also, the park is well-maintained.

We recently had a bad windstorm in the Madison area, which took out a lot of trees. The workers at the park worked tirelessly to get the park back open. I went on a hike, and I could see the great work they did in cleaning up the park.

I have also, a few other times, stayed in the cabins for a couple of nights. The cabins were clean. I love that there is a heater/air conditioner in every cabin.

The restrooms have always been clean every time I've been in there.

Another really cool thing about the park is that there are worship services held outside in a little amphitheater in the park on Sunday mornings. It's an amazing atmosphere in which to worship.

This park is not too busy. It's easy to find a quiet place in the park, where you may encounter wildlife.

I highly recommend...

We stayed one night and deeply regretted it BECAUSE it was so wonderful. I can't remember what site we booked, but we had a corner spot that had a huge grassy area and a small beach. There was a trail that was between us and the beach, but very few people walked along the trail while we were there. We had great cell service with Verizon that allowed us to work remote. The host was very nice. Firewood was available for self-service purchase. The lakes were gorgeous. Bathrooms were warm and clean. It was very quiet and nicely manicured. The nearby town has great food. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely stay there again. I might even go out of my way to stay...

Lake herman is a nice state park but if you looking to camp and want some privacy dont stay at sites next to the pond, they have a walking trail right along edge pond right by ypur campsite or even coming out right into your campsite so you constantly have people walking thru your camp,or riding their bikes thru, carrying their kayaks, dogs comin thru, kids runnin thru.its a real invasion to your privacy and site and people dont seem to care they intruding thru.theres other trails and big enough park that the park really shouldnt have put a trail next to the sites or coming into your site.made weekend verry...
