Walchli Farm — Attraction in Hermiston

Hello Walchli farms Family! My husband Mike and brother-in-law Don grew up in Hermiston with some of you. Your watermelons have Always been a family tradition. Mike always bragged about your watermelons being Thee Best Anywhere; to everyone. He would plan trips home to visit around your harvest time. You probably didn't realize that. He's been gone 2 yrs now and I was thinking and trying to figure a way to get up there for my "watermelon fix" (lol) and of course visit his sister Jerry while I was there. Let me just say 632 miles is a LONG way to go for a watermelon, but Always worth it. So, last week our granddaughter, Monique came home with a watermelon. I smiled and of course thanked her for thinking of me by buying a watermelon, to which she replied, "Grama it's a Hermiston melon", with a very proud smile. WooHoo! After a few days and down the last bites, our son, Tomas walks in with a watermelon. Again, I just thought, the thought was sweet. I said, "hey, you brought me a watermelon", to which he replied, "Yes, I did!" He set it on the table in front of me with your label facing me! I said, "It's a Walchli melon"! Big smile on his face- "yes it is!" Thank you for getting your watermelons to Us, all the way in Salt Lake City, Utah. A touch of "home". Memories. Tradition. Love. Saved me a trip for now, though I will still need to visit before another...

We are from out of town but wanted to try the Hermiston watermelons, since we’ve heard so much about them. We were recommended to Walchli by locals and they were spot on! THE best watermelon I have ever had, takes unlike anything I’ve eaten previously. They were super dense/not overly watery, and extremely flavorful. The owner was there and he was the kindest person, told us all about his farm and how to pick the right melon (but I asked him to, since he’s the expert!). Don’t be deterred right when you pull in, it doesn’t look like you’re supposed to be there but go around the barn and you will see the bay doors open with all the melons inside.

You can get cheaper watermelons of course, but there is no comparison. I would pay twice what I paid just to get these ones, based on the taste...

What a lovely welcome we received upon arrival! It was 98° out. We were told to go grab some fresh cut cold melons. How wonderful! The Walchli family members working were awesome! Kudo's to them! So they had samples of the red, orange, and yellow water melon were amazing! I did favor the orange over yellow and of course I had ro get my red. Put them in the fridge over night. Cut them today ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We managed to get perfectly wonderful watermelons! Thank you to the Walchli family and each and every employee!!! Keep up...
