Read moreI've been coming here for four years looking for the elusive GGO (Great Gray Owl). This is my first time seeing it. I've always seen different animals, not just birds from a porcupine to an Ermine (White Weasel). It's a large park, and it requires lots of driving to the bird feeders. You should stop by the Welcome Center to see what birds and animals have been spotted and the location for the day. Definitely dress for the occasion if you go during the winter season. Read moreVisited the bog back in April with the group “Friends of Sax Zim Bog”. Would highly recommend touring with them the first time (shoutout to Clinton and Sparky)!
The scenery alone was stunning – seeing the expanse of the forest, fields, and wetland within a short distance was really something.
The tour with the group included searching for salamanders (success), looking for various raptors (saw a broad-winged hawk and a rough-legged hawk), and went looking for Great Grey Owls… no success.
