Roca Berry Farm was yet another venue in the middle of a corn field. The last 5 weddings I've attended occurred at these "farms". Each of the venues tried very hard to produce that fairy tale image with lots and lots of mini white lights and yards of white tuelle. Roca was no exception. First of all the bride was stuning and the groom dashing in their wedding finery. The high / low points of venue are as follows; MAPS stated that Roca boasted hard surface roads all of the way but we drove on gravel for last 1 to 2 miles, The wedding took place on the "warmest" day of the year. The guests sat on carved rocks in semi circles with no cover to block the suns blistering rays. Please invest in an awning! All guests lined up to proceed to the air conditioned reception without prodding. The bar was front and center in the hall. We prepared for a "cash bar" by laying in sums of ones, fives and tens. The bartendar had 2 choices of hard liquor and juice "special" drinks that were about 5 or 6 Oz for $8.00 each. They also had a few varieties of beers for $6.00. Here's where the problem came. Even though their sign and verbal instructions both said cash bar, it wasn't. The venue would ONLY take plastic. The hall was decorated very prettily and had plenty of tables to choose from. The air conditioner also worked well. The employees were all helpful, hard working and knowledgeable. A different area of the venue has a large pumpkin patch with all things pumpkin and autumn for sale. I'm not certain but I think I saw a gift shop also. Although I'm certain the newly weds had many rules to follow, one that stood out to me was if any guest or member of the wedding party was caught with outside alcohol a $1,000 fine would be applied to the contract. Overall my main objection with Roca is how far it is from any Lincoln hotels/motels. Ours was about 15 min away and definately factored into drinking and time spent at reception. This problem pops up at all of these country...
Read moreIm not someone who leaves negative reviews but this experience urges me to do so. I was very disappointed with my experience here, a group of friends and I went around 20:30, and got into lines for attractions right away. We made it through the hay ride and haunted house by 23:00 and were having a great time. However, when we headed over to the Psyco Path, we were told that it was closed and we couldn't go in. We were disappointed, but more upset because not five minutes earlier when entering the haunted house, after waiting in line for practically an hour, and were told by an employee not to worry because that Path was always the last attraction to close. It is ridiculous that my friends and I paid nearly $300 between us, arrived an hour before the gates closed and waited in line for close to 2 hours between the two attractions that we did experience, and not get to use our last ticket which was non reusable. Even after conveying our frustration to someone claiming to be a manager they told us "Well you should have waited for that attraction instead if you really wanted to go through." How is it reasonable that when we pay the heavy admission price to experience all that Roca Berry Farm has to offer and when we go redeem our last attraction they tell us that it is closed at 23:00 when there were at least 200 people still there. The worst part is that we were having such a great time until we were basically told that it was our fault that didn't get to experience it. If you are going to close down you're most popular attraction and claim that it is too late, then don't let people in and have them pay full price not get their money's worth. Overall very disappointed with how it turned out when it could have been one of the best places I've visited in the...
Read moreI have been coming here more than 20 years. I've never had an issue b4 until today. They have new rides, like larger fair rides. The manager Jeff Knopik was running the cornado. All was well for a bit. We waited a while which is fine, expected to wait. My twins would only ride with their older brother. 1 at a time. The seats hold 2 at a time. So 1 twin went with older brother. 2nd twin waited till next ride to ride with older brother. He wouldn't allow my other twin to ride on the next ride with older brother. Because older bro didnt wait again. He said that it was skipping the line and made them 2 go to the back of the line. So we waited an additional 20 mins for the other twin to ride for the 1st time. If he had gone by himself, he would have had an empty seat next to him. I didn't think it was a big deal to have my other son ride with the little one 2 rides in a row. I understand the rules. It was how he spoke to them, how he handled the situation. My son who hadn't road yet started to cry. He is a very high anxiety child, which is why he would only ride with his older bro. Other than this instance, it doesn't take away from the rest of the farm. Just handle things better next time Jeff, and please don't make my child cry again. Some other moms came and talked to me and also thought it was uncalled for, not ok how he handled it. We ended up spending 1 hour waiting and only got 2 rides each kid. They loved it though and that's all...
