I booked my wedding with Castle McCulloch on July 8th 2024. In early January 2025, I became aware through public news reports that the property was facing a possible foreclosure. Despite multiple attempts to seek clarification from the venue, I encountered delayed responses, inconsistent statements, and evasiveness when asked to provide a written guarantee that my event would proceed as contracted.
Between December and early February, my direct inquiries regarding the venue’s operational status were either ignored or met with verbal assurances that conflicted with publicly available court filings and news reports. On February 5, 2025, a representative explicitly stated that the venue’s ability to host my wedding was uncertain due to pending legal proceedings. However, when I requested a refund based on their inability to guarantee services, my request was denied. I expected, in good faith, that the venue would understand my situation. I needed to know by Wednesday if they could guarantee my wedding so I could cancel with my vendors without owing them thousands if the foreclosure proceeded. Instead of understanding, I was denied a refund and told my contract still stands. Even though no guarantee could be made at that time.
On February 11th, 2025, I was informed via email that the venue could now guarantee my event. However, when I requested formal written confirmation from their legal representatives, no such document was provided. Given the continued uncertainty, I was forced to seek alternative arrangements at additional expense. My family is all from out of town. I could not risk their money for travel and hotels and the money i'd have to pay to the vendors.
Due to my experience, I strongly recommend that any prospective clients conduct thorough due diligence and obtain written assurances before booking with this venue. I cannot speak to the venue’s current status, but based on my interactions, I encountered significant challenges in securing reliable information regarding my event. If they would have been upfront from the beginning or had better communication throughout all of this- we could have...
Read moreI had the intimate package at Castle McCulloch and it was BEAUTIFUL! We were not rushed at all! The staff was amazing and very sweet! A HUGE shoutout to Samantha she was our wedding coordinator, she is freaking awesome! The vendors we had through the castle was violins (Duo Licht) playing for our ceremony and Monte (World Tour DJ) for the reception! Both were amazing I highly recommend them! Our food was from Culinary Visions and when I say they are great I mean it! Definitely a must have when it comes to the food, it was so GOOD! Our photographer was Brian Anthony he was amazing as well, very patient and he knows how to work the camera! His photos are gorgeous! Highly recommend everyone above!!
Side note: For flowers don’t pick Bennetts baskets and bows! Gail is unprofessional and rude…it took her 4 times to remake my bouquet because she couldn’t get it to what I wanted, I even sent her a picture of how I wanted it to look. It was the day before the wedding and she was still having to fix it. She sent me a picture of it and I approved of it because it looked larger in the picture and honestly fed up with it. When I showed up and seen my bouquet it was smaller than what it looked like in the picture! Samantha took my bouquet and tried to fix it for me and for that I am grateful! My bridesmaids looked pitiful and my toss bouquet was smaller than my bridesmaids. I paid $900 and my flowers were literally falling out of my Bouquet including my bridesmaids during our photography session which took time away from my photographer that I paid for as well!! Just don’t do it…she has refused any type of refund. My mother and I, heck even my husband could have done a better job! She should not be a vendor for the Castle and I’m not the only one that has had issues with her according to her Google...
Read moreJust had my wedding here and it was beautiful and amazing. It was wonderful and I am so thankful to the castle for letting me use their beautiful venue. As wonderful as everything was I do have a few small complaints. The only complaint I have involving the castle directly is that I was a little annoyed that they kept locking the door to the bathroom in the dressing room so we would have to go down stairs where the guests were coming in or just hold it. The bathroom thing is not really a big deal and I did not care that much it was just a minor annoyance. However, my biggest complaint is that they have bad preferred venders. I went to a bridal show and talked with their preferred venders and even had a book that the castle gave me that was filled with information on their preferred venders. I was thinking that since the castle is such a great venue and is rated best wedding venue on the knot for this area that I could fully trust that their venders would be as good and as professional however, that was not the case. Actually All the castle preferred venders that I went with were not so good, my wedding was amazing because the venue was amazing and the venders that were not preferred by the castle that I chose were perfect and amazing. The only preferred venders I chose from the castle was the Rosa Mae's catering for food and cake, Reflections Bridal hair and Makeup, and VIP formal wear. All 3 were not so good venders and were an all around bad experience. Castle McCulloch is a Great venue and I definitely would recommend it to any bride however, I will also warn any bride to go with your own venders and ignore the castle's preferred venders, trust me, the very small discount is not worth it and the selection...
