It's a well hidden beach nook from the world's eyes. After you exit the forest you reach the lake. Despite the fact that is for residents only, I took my chance and visited the park. I don't know if it was luck or not that I didn't get a ticket for parking my car on the street (Raven st & Sheridan st, if I'm not mistaken; due to Covid-19 the park's parking was closed ). For those who like more isolated beaches, this one would fit. I would say it looks like a beach of a depopulated island :)

Great secluded woodsy, shaded Park with the sound of the waves in the background. From the parking lot by the beach, look for the path with steps off to the left that leads up to the park area. There is beachfront, but no lifeguards so this is not a swimming beach.

small beach with clear views across the lake. there's a good chance you will have it to yourself or share it with a few people. Because there's no swimming it tends to be visited mostly by adults enjoying a quiet moment watching the waves.

The parking area at Ravine drive very limited and almost all nearby streets closed for parking. The parking lot for residents only. The park area is very small due to erosion and protected planting area. A sign in the parking lot mentioned that visitors could get a temporary parking permit from a kiosk at Ravinia school but we couldn't find it. We're 3rd generation Highland Park residents but currently live elsewhere. We were at Millard Park for a few hours to spread my mom's ashes at the tree we bought for the park when my father died. We recently paid for another tree as memorial for my mom. It was frustrating and disappointing to get a $75 parking fine. We'd been in touch with the park service about the memorial for several weeks before the event but weren't given an option for a temporary parking pass. The beach at Ravine drive is almost...

I love this hidden gem, but sad to see that most of the beach is gone. It's been a rough on the lake, with the higher level and large waves this spring and summer. The north end of the beach is completely gone and it's difficult to reach the stairs. I like to park on Forest Ave (free parking) and walk down Ravine Dr and make the loop, walking down the beach and up the stairs and steep trail, towards the upper gardens. There is a gazebo at the top and a large open field with benches, that have plaques of loved ones on them. Many of the trees have a plaque two. You follow the pathway around to another set of stairs leading down to the parking lot. You have to have a village sticker or a Lakefront parking pass, otherwise you face a $75 fine. The lakefront parking pass is expensive. I wonder if the village will ever restore...
