We stayed in a class C camper for 9 days and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The sites all need a bit of leveling but water pressure was good and electricity was very stable. Each site also has a fire pit and nice picnic table. Wi-Fi was poor at best even with our booster. We couldn’t rely on it at all but cell service (ATT) was generally 2 or 3 bars. The bath house has toilets on one end and showers on the other. The staff was great about maintaining the grounds, trash pickup and keeping the bath house clean. There was plenty of hot water for showers although the spray heads are a bit harsh with little adjustment available. There is a large trash bin outside the toilets but no trash bins on the shower end. Each shower room (4 of them) has a separate bench area and hooks for clothes/towels. The area was usually not crowded or noisy. We saw several people fishing from the lake edge and even swimming in the designated area. There is a nice, large playground with swings. Our grandkids loved playing there and they loved playing hide and seek among the trees. There is a large covered picnic area and paved paths throughout and around the lake to the south. Sunrises were beautiful over the lake. The campground has a gate that requires a code so we felt very secure. There is a dump station about 1/2 mile back up the access road. It is in the parking lot of the middle school about halfway between the entrance and the playground at the city park there. The ranger in charge was green about directions to the campground, the dump station, the gate codes, and anything else we asked about. He responded to emails within an hour which we really appreciated. We had come to Lake Dallas for the April eclipse and stayed at Willow Grove afterwards. It is close to some nicer restaurants, Walmart, car repair shops, Chipotle, you name it! We will definitely stay here again for its affordability, location...

The RV spots are spaced out very well and the view is wonderful. The water and electric connections are good with great pressure. The public showers are fairly clean. I went to the bath house on a Saturday and not sure when they are cleaned but it could’ve used a good hose down to get all the hair off the walls and floors. This RV Park has so much potential. If the land owners would put in concrete slabs and put in a dump station closer to the rv park. Currently there is a dump station about 3 blocks from the actual rv park. It is a pain especially if you are coming in at night trying to find the parking lot it is in or if you need to dump mid-stay. They could put a dump station at the far end of the parking lot where the bath house is. Also, the bugs are crazy of course...next to the lake; that can’t be changed so be prepared for that. The wifi is free but the signal is weak (1 bar even at 2am). This didn’t matter to us as we have several hotspots.
The most important thing for us is that the limbs on the road leading to the RV Park (Hundley Rd) need to be trimmed. We are about 11.5 ft tall at our tallest point (our ladder) - (Class A) and had to wait for several cars to pass so we could drive in the middle of the road. The whole stretch of Hundley Rd needs to have the trees trimmed on the sides and overhead. This is something the city needs to do, especially since they are leasing the land. This is the reason for me giving four stars. It scratched the passenger side of our RV; luckily we have yet to get our new paint job.
Overall I’d definitely stay there again and do...
Read moreAs I first drove through the campground my first thought was, wow this is pretty nice. My first problem was we were tent camping and although our reservation had P-11 as our site there was nothing marked to say which primitive site was P-11. So we just picked a spot, which we did not have access to a picnic table or fire pit because all of those spots were taken. This was an inconvenience because we didn't have a table and couldn't cook or build a campfire. My main issue is they allow day campers to come in and they have no restrictions. We had people coming into where our tent was set up trying to put their stuff right in our spot. And this wasn't just one day that it happened but all day Friday and Saturday. The day campers are allowed to stay until midnight. Be aware they are loud and not considerate of other campers. Also, parking is a joke if you're a tent camper. Several times we drove up to the bathhouse/restrooms and when we got back our parking spot had been taken by day campers. We tried not to let the negatives spoil our weekend but it is very aggravating when you leave your campsite to come back and find that people are in your area that you don't know. Also, makes you worry about your belongings. Lake Dallas/Lewisville has several other campgrounds and I would recommend you check into these before camping at...
