Wrist bands purchased online- highly recommend as it makes entry to the park much easier. Because the lines for the coaster and the zipline were too long and we were limited on time, we were unable to try out those attractions. However, the ropes course was just challenging enough to make it fun without being too strenuous. Be forewarned- you do need to be mildly physically fit and a have a decent sense of balance to successfully negotiate the course. They have one course for small kids and one for older kids/ adults. We got the opportunity to take part in the cave tour which takes place every 20 minutes and lasts about an hour. Be advised- there are a total of over 400 stairs, rough and slippery surfaces- both uphill and downhill, very tight spaces that require crouching and squatting but with that being said- it was a lot of fun and very interesting. The tour guides, although very young, were exceptionally knowledgeable. Just don't kid yourself about the physical requirements on this one - multiple people in our group could barely get through the tour. The last thing we did was the 7D Gunslinger arcade/ movie. Probably a lot of fun for little kids- but just so so for adults. Overall though, most of the park employees were wonderful, the park was very clean and well maintained. Definitely a fun experience- we will certainly...
Read moreA very fun excursion on a Black Hills vacation!! For a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids- ages 8 and 11) we paid $205 for unlimited wristbands. We did everything (ropes course, roller coaster, virtual reality game, zip ride and cave tour) once. We arrived to the park at 10 am and didn’t have to wait at all to ride the roller coaster which was awesome. The roller coaster was everyone’s favorite thing! Super fast and just really fun. We did the ropes next and didn’t have to wait at all for that either. The top level is fun and scary! We all loved the ropes course. A lot more people started coming to the park (it was 11am) and lines started to become an issue. We waited for an hour for the zip ride which is a 1 minute ride. But it was fun - kids loved it. We did VR next and waited about 15 minutes. Pretty fun- kids loved it. We ate lunch- decent food and prices. Last was the cave tour. We only waited a few minutes for it. It was about an hour long which was too long for this family but we had a great tour guide. Her name was Jules. She was funny, smart, entertaining and super well spoken. She was only 14! Couldn’t hardly believe that. She was awesome!! We spent about 4 hours at the park. If we went right when it opened at 9 we would have been able to do it all in 3 hours. Go early for...
Read moreOur family of 5 stayed 5 hours and could have hung out longer. The all day pass is the way to go unless you are only there to try one or two things. For most people one or two rides will not be enough. Caution: There are tons of stairs, slopes, and walking. We loved the coaster and the climbing area. The soaring eagle was fun but not impressive. The 7D movies were fun but not a "must do" as 1/3 of the screen wasn't working properly, a few chairs were out of order, and they are only a few minutes long. The cave tour was amazing and our tour guide was very entertaining. It is a constant 58 degrees so some were comfortable without jackets. The cave tour can be difficult for people over 6' 5" to navigate without touching the walls. There are many stairs inside the cave. I advise listening to the guide when they recommend turning your hat backward and clipping your sunglasses onto your shirt. I enjoyed imagining the cave as it was when it was first discovered and the years following. Our guide was great at creating those images:) Though spendy, we don't regret the day spent here. We arrived shortly after they opened on a Thursday and didnt have to wait in line for anything for a couple of hours. We had enough time left to visit Mount Rushmore and do the .6...
