The Nature Conservancy's Tiger Creek Preserve — Attraction in Hillcrest Heights

Tiger Creek Preserve is a wonderful place to explore the ancient islands of Florida (America's Galapagos). You can explore seven trails from three trail heads (at this time, July 2017). There are more endangered plants and animals on the Lake Wales Ridge then anywhere else in the U.S. You will hike along a pristine blackwater stream, hardwood swamps, hammocks and sandhills. The nature conservancy takes good care of these trails. They were well maintained and I walked portions that were silica sand in my bare feet to practice grounding! Brought my sister and we did the pond loop but the pond was pretty dried at the time. Staff in a tour bus were maintaining the roads and said they give tours on the bus too. I plan to go back and see the creek! It was a worthwhile hiking day and not a lot of people...
