Miller Nature Sanctuary and Highland Nature Sanctuary are individual sanctuaries but both are part of Arc of Appalachia Nature Preserve. Rocky Fork Gorge is in both Miller and Highland Nature Sanctuaries. As confusing as all of that is I hiked to the gorge area on the falls trail in Miller Nature Sanctuary. The trails are easy to moderate and well maintained. The trail runs along the west side of Rocky Fork Creek. On the other side of the creek and gorge is the Barrett Rim Trail (I'm guessing part of Highland Nature Sanctuary). It really didn't matter to me because the entire area is amazing. The only thing that was negative, but not really enough to drop it in stars, was the walk from the front parking lot to the back lot where the trailhead begins. I know the whole point is to get out and hike but with a 4yo it would've been nice to utilize the back parking lot since he was DONE by the end of the trails ;) All in all great experience. We learned a lot on this trail due to the informative signage. Secluded. Not crowded like a state park. Rocky Fork Creek runs by much of it, you are in the canopy with tons of wildlife, if you look closely in the picture you can see a fawn that we happened upon on the tulip tree trail.
