Appalachian Artisan Center — Attraction in Hindman

This center and café located in the heart of downtown Hindman is a great place to stop and see local Kentuckian craftsmen’s’ art. About every 2 months, this center exhibits the art work of a new Appalachian Artist. Moreover, they sell the hand-made art from over 200 southern and eastern Kentucky artists; they also feature new items often, and offer Handcrafted Pottery, jewelry, woven rugs, photographs, paintings, quilts, and much more. On another note the lovely Appalachian Artisan center Café has many delectable items. They offer soups and salads (chicken salad, chef salad), sandwiches (BLT, Pulled pork, Chicken, Possum Trot Ham), drinks (fountain drinks, tea, coffee) desserts and sides (cookies, scones, fruit cup)…just to name a few. I chose to order the Pulled pork sandwich which came with a pickle, and a fountain drink. Not only does the center house various art pieces from different local artists, but it also houses a nice cafe. The cafe is really enjoyable. Because I came with a large crowd, there was a bit of a wait for the food to arrive. However, I did not sit idle while I waited. The cafe is situated in the Artisan Center so i got the chance to enjoy some of the art while I waited. As far as the food goes, I've had better of its kind. Nonetheless, it was still good.
