John and Elsa Johnson Home — Attraction in Hiram Township

Historic Johnson Farm is an incredible window into life in the 1800s and The early days of the church. Pretty wild how much history happened here. Also what blew me away is all the 1800s modern features this home had (for the time period). Fireplaces had warming cabinets, a well pump was inside the home, they had summer kitchens with double doors to make the perfect cheese, centralized fireplace to warm the entire house in winter, windows designed for lighting perfection, there are no hallways so it's a maximized, efficient, use of space, 1st floor rooms for giving birth or guests, doors placed strategically so guests like Joseph Smith have a private entrance to work from. Hi Elder Dixon, I was with the girls trip last weekend with the six sisters! I just wanted to let you and your wife know how special it was to be able to come and be taught and edified by you both! You each have such a special way of sharing your testimonies and the sacred love that you feel for those that you are teaching about. The senior missionaries here were very accommodating and interested in each family that walked in the door. The tour was wonderful and enjoyable. Yes, we had to move along for the next group behind us but we were treated respectfully.
