We rented Johnny Counts Private Cabin and Patio at Astoria Hot Springs Park very near Jackson, WY, in July 2025 for my son and his bride's wedding reception. They had an intimate outdoor wedding at Snake River Overlook before the reception at Astoria Hot Springs Park. We had about 25 people and Astoria Hot Springs Park was a beautiful, amazing venue that adults and children enjoyed. From my first email to the Park requesting information (all coordination was long distance) to the very end, Carolyn, Dave and all the Park staff was amazing, informed, and there to help set up tables and chairs and make sure everything was going according to plan. Johnny Counts Log Cabin Grand Room with working stone fireplace, antler chandeliers and cabin decor is beautiful and required very little decorating other than tablecloths and flowers. We prepared cold finger foods and we brought ice chests for drinks and used the refrigerator in the small cold prep area for the wedding cake. There was a separate "conference" space connected to the Grand Room where we set up the food tables and drinks. The staff was absolutely amazing and provided round tables and chairs for seating as well as outside patio tables and chairs. After the reception we paid for guests to enjoy the hot spring pools and cold plunge pool. It was a July wedding but comfortable with the breeze. This unique Cabin is a naturally beautiful venue at a very reasonable cost for a wedding, reception, family reunion, etc. overlooking the scenic river. Search Astoria Hot Springs Park and look at their Events options. With Jackson a short driving distance away with a Whole Foods where you can preorder a delicious cake (like the Chantilly with berries) and a huge Albertsons Grocery for drinks and large choice of food items food items, you can do the food yourself or contact one of the Jackson restaurants for catering. This was a very reasonable, gorgeous venue we all enjoyed. After the food and drinks it was also wonderful to relax in the hot springs with excellent changing rooms and showers, hammocks and a cold plunge pool. Check it out for your next event....
Read moreWhen we arrived, there was a group of non-English speaking men, drinking and playing loud music. They had cases and cases of glass beer bottles and appeared quite intoxicated. They were finishing off what looked like the last of their alcohol, stumbling about trying to get dry clothes on. They gathered part of their mess and started to stumble away, dropping glass bottles that broke among the rocks. I and another group quickly brought this to their attention. They stopped and looked back. One of them was decent enough to come back and pick up their broken glass while others in their group were cursing at us. Several people (from the LNT group) jumped up and began gathering their wet and destroyed beer boxes and other various items they were leaving behind, taking it to them. The language barrier was clearly a challenge as they did not seem to understand no-glass and pack it in pack it out system everyone else there appeared to follow. They were a disappointment to humanity with their lack of respect for nature and other people, including wildlife, which surely make way across those rocks alone the river. BUT, other than that incident, the remaining people, including children and a few dogs, were well-behaved, polite, friendly, and respectful of each other AND their environment which enabled an atmosphere that could be peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable. I might be a good idea to have a sign of what is expected of people to be in English AND Spanish. Don't misunderstand this review. I don't care what language you speak, what color you are, or where in the universe you came. I do care about how one treats their environment and other beings. Please be respectful. That land is available for all to enjoy. BUT it belongs to the wildlife that lives there, in and on the land, in the air, and in the water. This is THEIR home. Honor it. Be respectful. Keep it clean. Be conscious to leave no...
Read moreThe hot springs themselves were fine. It’s nice that there are multiple options each with a different temperature. We knew coming in these were man-made so they matched our expectations. The mountainscape is gorgeous and the real reason to visit! The reason I rated this a three is because the staff were some of the rudest I have ever interacted with. The instructions stated to arrive early which we did, but then the staff seemed frustrated and told us to wait outside. The lobby area is small and they prefer you wait outside, which I did not have an issue with. What I do take issue with is that I asked permission to go inside to order hot cocoa. After ordering I stood and waited for them to process the Keurig cup cocoa and while waiting a staff member snapped and me and told me to get out. I let her know I was waiting for the cocoa and she replied that she didn’t care and to get outside before it got busy. I walked out and numerous other guests were talking about the awful experience they also had with her. It became a joke for many of us in the pool after she came by and then chastised two women for bringing sparkling water because she assumed it was alcohol. After coming out of the locker room I was waiting for my husband and listened to her making fun of guests behind the counter. Fortunately the other guests were lovely and we were able to laugh it off, but if this were my business I’d want to know if someone was representing it so poorly. 4 stars for the hot springs, 0 stars for...
