The Wallace Wedding & Event Venue — Attraction in Hoffman

Beautiful venue but poorly managed. This venue is in an absolutely beautiful and tranquil setting, the location and grounds are wonderful. The building is also lovely, with some nice additional decorative touches, and has so much to offer, but upon closer inspection, it is not well-maintained. The suites were dirty and dusty, as was the kitchen and bar, and things were generally not in tip-top shape...as you would expect for a wedding venue and paying a fair market premium for it as well. The worst part of our experience, unfortunately, was the disorganized venue management and poor communication. At first, we appreciated how "laid back" the owner seemed, but as time went on there were some red flags that I just hoped was me being a highly-organized DIY bride and event manger myself. Well, those came to light on the morning of our wedding when we arrived early to set up the dozens of things we needed to and the venue was not nearly done setting up any of their things - despite being told multiple times that it would all be done the night before and we could even come earlier if needed and hit the ground running. Instead, I spent at least an hour of my time trying to communicate with a man who spoke broken English about how we needed everything set up and..."did we need chairs outside for the ceremony?" WHAT?!? Of course we do!!! Then he proceeded to mow the grass outside that morning as well when we had things to set up out there. All of this completely derailed OUR carefully planned timeline and everything got behind, I barely had an hour to get ready to walk down the aisle! All of this after going over our floorplan multiple times with the owner, who only popped in briefly that morning to do who knows what and then introduced herself to me like we have not already met in person twice before. She often forgot so many things I had already told her and really tried to make clear about our needs because we were doing it all ourselves, and she kept assuring me they were on it. We talked multiple times about bringing our own drinks and needing them to cool, but when we arrived, their coolers where not even plugged in, they were warm!!!!!! It was clear that she did not keep notes on our conversations and was just disorganized. The owner also does not communicate through email, only text...not OK. If you run a business in 2025, USE EMAIL!!! The wifi information was also nowhere to be easily found and when we called her the day of the wedding for immediate information, she did not even pick up the phone then! She even had the audacity to text me multiple times throughout the day about cleaning up and closing up, which I saw the next day because I was like...getting married stuff. In the end, we had a beautiful wedding but no thanks to the venue management, just the setting. Having my wedding morning be that stressful when it didn't need to be is such a disappointment. It's all shame because this venue has so much potential but it's not living up to it. Amazing venue to have your dream wedding! I had my ceremony and reception here yesterday and it was the space was everything we could have wanted and more! There is great signage on the road helping your guests find where to turn into the venue. There is a long driveway leading up to the venue space helping to remove the outside world from your event. There is ample parking for all of your guests. When you pull up to the front of the venue space you are greeted by beautiful natural landscaping including an amazing lake that wraps around the venue space. Out back the ceremony space has an arbor right at the edge of the water making a beautiful natural backdrop for your ceremony and photos. The inside of the venue space is incredibly spacious making it an excellent place to hold a big event like a wedding. We had plenty of space for guests to be seated comfortably and to have a very large dance floor. There is a beautiful mantle with windows on either side making a stunning focal point. There are also string lights both inside and outside making the venue even more magical when it gets dark out. There is a large bar area with refrigerated units to store all of your ice, mixers and anything else you could want for a bar. There is a wonderful kitchen space with plenty of room for any catering team to work. The mens and women's bathrooms have two stalls each. There are stairs to get up to the bride and groom's respective getting ready rooms. Both of these rooms were spacious, well decorated, and had their own private bathrooms with showers in case you need to freshen up. The AC worked phenomenally and helped keep everyone cool on the 96 degree day. The pricing of this venue is very fair and seems to be on par with the rest of the industry. Ms Wallace was very easy to work with from the first phone call to touring the venue to booking and paying. We had our wedding on a Tuesday and since there was not an event on Monday she allowed us to set up the space the day before without any additional charge making the wedding day so much smoother than it would have been otherwise! Julio did a phenomenal job setting up the chairs and tables the way that we wanted for both the ceremony and the reception! He was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to help us! Local. Best way to describe the experience.

When a business portrays itself as not only accommodating, but says it will make exceptions to fit your personal needs on your wedding day it feels wonderful. When they wait until you are contractually into a “no-refund” time window, that then leads into a global pandemic, to inform you all of those verbal “concessions” will now cost you extra if you choose to include them? You then feel like you have been low-brow duped into a legally generic price gouge for some extra dollars. Even more infuriating is the lack of empathy to any of our concerns as the pandemic and business closures proceeded. The Wallace informed a local electrician to proceed with a $2000 upgrade (which was for basic electric needed for a live band that every event venue should have) to their property in support of our wedding plans, after a stay at home order, knowing our planned wedding date was cancelled, and then had the electrician contact us for payment. Given the pandemic and government enforced restrictions, we were forced to cancel our wedding plans and instead married in a private ceremony without a formal reception. Not only did the Wallace not even discuss providing a refund for cancellation due to an unprecedented act of God that EVERY other business in the country has offered, she did not even have the decency to reply to our email. We received so much support and flexibility from EVERY other vendor, that it was clear The Wallace stood out as distant, uncaring, greedy, and in-flexible when it came to the issue of losing our wedding day.
