Heugh Canyon is a hidden gem, a testament to nature's artistry. The hike itself is a moderate challenge, rewarding you with stunning vistas. As you ascend, the canyon walls rise dramatically, showcasing layers of geological history. The trail is well-maintained, making the climb manageable, but be prepared for some steep sections that will test your endurance.

The highlight of the hike is undoubtedly the waterfall. Plunging down the canyon walls, the water creates a refreshing mist, a welcome respite on a warm day. The sound of the cascading water fills the air, creating a symphony of nature. The pool at the base of the falls is a perfect spot to relax and take in the beauty of the surroundings.

Overall, Hugh Canyon offers a rewarding experience for hikers of all levels. The combination of challenging trails, breathtaking views, and the majestic waterfall makes it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an escape into nature. Don't forget your camera – you'll want to capture...

For a city hike, it’s a 5 star. Coming from Glacier National Park, it’s a 4 star, lol.

Info about this hike (since I live in New Orleans): You park on Wasatch blvd. It’s a 10 minute walk from the street and thru the neighborhood before hitting the trail. Note: You’ll walk thru a car GATE and up the street before passing by a neighbor’s driveway to gain access to the rock gravel driveway that leads to the trail. Standard hike: about 45-60 minutes up to a first set of bouldering rocks. You can traverse up it to two main waterfalls. One is midway up this and one at the top (both on the right side). There is a break and another set of boulders to climb. It’s probably another 30-45 minutes up plus 500ft. I went up most of the way and the view is better generally — but missed the top by another 100ft. I’m not sure if there is payoff. It’s pretty hard near the top and coming down, I slid a few times.

Overall, challenging. Moderate. Enjoyable. 3 hours...

Great little hike. Did it in 2 hrs round trip at a moderate to quick pace. Nice and cool and the trail is shaded about 80% of the way. A lot of loose dirt on the uphills/down hills so be careful, especially on the downs. It's easy to slip onto your arse. There are only about 8 spots to park in on Wasatch Blvd and you have to walk up a few blocks thru the neighborhood thru a private gate to the trailhead. The little waterfall at the end is a nice little finish to this hike. You do have to scramble across about fifty yards of boulders to get to the waterfall though, but it's not too tough. Perfect little hike that's close to the city. Give yourself 2.5 hrs round trip if your taking your time. If you're trying to do it as fast as you can you could probably knock it...

This is a not too long but moderate-hard trail that ends in a beautiful waterfall. The trailhead is behind a gated residential zone (pedestrian access allowed through). Park in the designated trail parking outside the residential area and walk through the residential area to the trail. The trail itself is mostly shaded and somewhat steep, especially the later part. At the very end, there is a little bit of scrambling involved to get to the waterfall, but it is worth it. The waterfall was roaring and very flowing full when we went. The water was pretty cold. I would recommend wearing sandals or water shoes so you can walk to the waterfall to be able to see it but also be prepared for some chilly feet for some time.

Trails are still very natural, not run down. The waterfall is not very abundant with water right now 9/17/22. But there is water. The trail is a little confusing to get to. You have to park on a public road because the road leading up to the trail is a private drive. And the beginning of the trail has a bit of construction material. But past that the trail is wonderful. We did bring our dog and she had a blast. There were others with dogs as well. There is a part right before the waterfall that looks to have had a rock slide so it’s a little tricky to get to the waterfall. Be cautious. There are a lot of loose rock. Also a lot of spiders crawling around the rock. We really liked this trail.
