The few spots we saw were nice. The water fall piece is simply God's gift.... that said, there was random trash all over! The porta potty was destroyed! You almost wreck your car getting into the park due to the one lane entrance off of a major roadway during construction. We drove up top to the picnic area and the dumpster behind the church was over flowing beyond belief.... warning... if you hike upnto see the waterfall the steps going up to the water fall are eroding from the ground and very unsafe to use. Take away all of the man made trash, disrespect and disregard and its a beautiful little spot to see. Read moreThe trail is incredibly littered. There's a lot of graffiti too, but I actually like it, some of it's clever or beautiful. But it REALLY needs cleaned up. Broken glass, tires, bottles, cans, it's terrible. The near y highway is also an ever present feature, unless you're close enough to the falls to drown out all noise, you're close enough to hear the highway.
The falls themselves are beautiful. Especially at noon, with the sun shining directly into the stream from above. If you're sitting behind it, on a partially cloudy day, the sun's rays give it a golden glow every time the clouds part, and it's worth having the clouds, if only to see...
Read moreI saw a sign for Buttermilk Falls a few years ago and had been wanting to go ever since. When my boyfriend and I finally went on one of the first really nice spring days, it was just lovely.
There is a really nice trail leading down to the bottom of the falls, and plenty of steeper shortcuts you can take if you're feeling adventurous. There is a great view from the top of the falls and plenty of area around the falls and along the trail to explore.
There were also plenty of families with kids there, so it seems to be a good place to take children if you have them.
