There is parking. To all who has children/toddlers and this is from someone who grew up on this island and was taught this about age 4 " never go up into the wind, for the wind God will left you up into the valley and we'll never see you again ". There's a wall which blocks you from the edge of the mountain. By putting your lite weight child on top of it without holding them back and as Strong as the wind is they can fall down/over. For what ever reason you choose to not or hold them tightly and they ask why, again the wind is Strong. First take the time to read the history of the view of long ago which was filled with such beauty which was pleasing to the wind. But as time went by the view started to change. Although the view may have changed just a little the valley stayed as beautiful as ever. Sadly the wind God was not pleased, and as you reach up and into her view she'll get angry and sweep you away. So I've been told, it's been shared though out many of us. Share this story with your child as you hold them tight, they will come to understand why. Aloha from my...
Read moreVery neat experience to travel up the mountain and experience the beautiful terrain, tunnels and twist and curves to the summit. It's a little tricky and mysterious getting to it and you can easily miss it. Be wary of fast moving local traffic as you navigate the journey and be ready to make a quick exit at the top. The wind that funnels up the valley normally blows extremely hard and you will find yourself leaning into the wind as you make your way to the lookout. The stunning view makes it all worthwhile and it should be on your to do list if you really want to see the gorgeous valley overlooking the city the miles of beach and a wonderful view of the pacific. There is a small parking fee of around 3 bucks, and well worth it. We had to make a second trip to the lookout before we left the island and it was just as enjoyable the second...
Read moreAlways a nice place to setup when you're on the Pali. Came here on my birthday and it was pretty spooky so early in the morning... Usually you're greeted with an immediate buffer of intense wind rush at you that you feel you could be blown away... That morning it was as still as death, and looming in the air were thick, cold tufts of mist hanging in the air. It was so surreal! I came here just a couple weeks earlier than that and it was pouring like mad. You couldn't see around you because of all the rain. Both times, this place was so empty. Nobody there. So, so, so weird and creepy, but it was...
