This a beautiful lookout that offers some of the most best picture moments. This place is extremely windy, so just be aware of that and hold onto your belongings tightly. There is plenty of parking and I believe places you can rest along the path to the lookout - you do have to walk a little ways for the best view point. But it’s free and definitely worth stopping to get some memorable pictures.

Such an amazing scenic overlook. I highly recommend stopping anytime you see a scenic overlook sign. Especially when you're driving through Oahu. This was absolutely amazing, and it doesn't cost anything for such a beautiful view.

Starting point for the pali notches hike, but also a nice stop to chill and lookout over the windward side without having to hike up the ridge. Free for kaimaaina and military with ID, there's a pay station and workers checking.

Reaching the Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout is more difficult than expected. It’s tucked away off the main routes, and once you pass the entrance, there’s no easy way to turn around — you’ll have to drive several miles down winding roads just to find a legal spot to loop back. Even then, there are numerous “No U-turn” signs, making it frustrating for first-time visitors unfamiliar with the area.

Then there’s the $8 parking fee, which feels steep considering how short most visits are. While the lookout itself is undeniably beautiful — with stunning panoramic views of the Windward coast — it’s not a place where most people spend more than 15–20 minutes. Unless you’re planning a long stop or hiking the surrounding trails, it’s hard to justify both the cost and the hassle of getting there.

In short, if you’re tight on time or just looking for a quick scenic stop, this might not be the most convenient choice. The view is memorable, but the logistics of reaching it and the high parking fee could make it feel like more trouble than it’s worth for...

Parking attendant is extremely rude! Stopped for just a quick peak on our way over to Kailua and saw the $8 parking fee so I decided I would just let my husband and 2 kids (only 3 & 4) go look quick as it was raining and I knew they wouldn’t make it long. I got in the car to move it down the street and the man got in my husbands face and threatened to give us a $55 ticket if him and the kids walked towards the view despite me already being in the car and backing out....
