June 2021 this campground is full of trees that give shade all around most of the campsites. We stayed at site A-13 which is up against highway #84 westbound traffic so there is noise 24hrs a day especially when trucks are using their Jake brakes to slow down with. There are loops A and B. So, B loop starts inside the middle of the park and A loop goes around until about A-45 then it meets B loop then continues around the outside of the campground back to A-1. Site A-1 thru A-15 and most all of B loop have full hookups otherwise there are many tent sites that have water and a sewer drain at each site. The sites on the lower part of the campground against the river are quieter and have a wonderful view of the river and the Washington side of the river along with some river traffic. However there still is some noise from the railroad tracks once about every 2-3 hrs. But not nearly as noisy as the highway side. All and all this park is very nicely laid out and has many amenities to offer. Our first stay here site A-13 which is next to the highway so there's a lot of Highway noise all day all night if you stay in Loop B which is the Center Loop not too much Highway noise but a lot of trees and a lot of coverage so if you wants your satellite to work I wouldn't recommend be Loop even though it has full hookups like a loop. C Loop is closest to the river and because of the train tracks picks up a lot of the train noise that goes through here but has a beautiful view of the river and the trains only come by or every 2 or 3 hours at the most but they are quite noisy somewhat noisier than even the traffic on the highway staying in a loop other than that this is a very nice Campground somewhat spaces between sites and other sites your clothes together so...

Splendid state park on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. Conveniently located between Mosier and the Dalles, but only 16 miles from Hood River; just a quick drive down I-84. The park is clean, the facilities are nice, and the spaces are just right. Many are staggered a bit on the hillside so it creates a sense of privacy which one doesn't often have in a state park. All sites have at least water, but many are full hookup for a trailer or RV. Some inner loop spaces would be tricky to back into with a larger rig though.

Yes, there is noise from the interstate but it dies off in the late evening, and it's barely noticeable if you are closer to the river. There is also rail noise from the tracks on both sides of the river. These are transcontinental lines, so trains run ~ 20 minutes or so. But again, we did not find it obtrusive to the camping experience for us. Disclaimer: I love trains... The direction and strength of the wind will also effect how loud any of these noises are.

The camp hosts were helpful and friendly, and in general Memaloose seems to attract a quiet, family-friendly crowd. There's some play equipment for children, lots of open grassy space, and the they have a wood shed; bundles are five dollars. The wood was of particularly good quality. Highly...

My wife and I stopped here on the first night of our honeymoon, because it looked to be a potentially nice place. Well, and it wasn't that bad, except for the highway being right there (no secret, you can SEE it, so if you're not expecting it you're kinda' blind) and the rather run-down facilities. Very dry and hot, really dusty. The lower part of the park looks somewhat better, but the upper portion is fairly cruddy, with trees removed and not replaced, etc. The place has gone down in our scrap book as "Memaloser" park. If you're down the gorge, keep right on rolling. There are a lot nicer places.

All that being said, the camp host was very helpful, even though it was technically well after-hours when we discovered we needed help. Namely, the power box for our site contained a wasp nest! Fortunately, I'd been wary of spiders and flipped it open with my toe instead of my hand, so I was able to get away without any stings. The camp host was able to go find some wasp spray in the shop, and we hosed 'em down so we could hook up for the night. Really personable people, was definitely the high spot...
