01/24/2021:
It’s my second time visiting Washington Crossing State Park NJ side. This time is one of my pass-thru D&R Canal Trail hike.
The entrance to the parking lot by River Road is a little bit tricky. You have to turn into it at the traffic lights by the tavern instead of going straight. Parking lot is ample.
Walking in the park itself at my first trip was a live history book for me to learn about Washington’s Christmas Night Crossing. It is definitely a good place to take kids over for history education.
I am a hiker. So I really enjoy walking by the canal in winter when the bushes around have died out and vision in unlimited.
After finishing 9 miles by the Canal, I was lucky enough to see the sunset over the river by the bridge. The view was definitely gorgeous.
Next time I am going to go across the bridge to take the loop trail to PA side. (THIS LOOP WAS DONE IN APRIL 2021!)

Today we hiked IN the park, mostly on the paved roads, which would keep us safe from catching ticks. Many parts are shady too.
The Open Air Theater was closed but we got a peek at it.
There are many parking lots around the park, some with picnic tables and playgrounds.
I would say it is a good hiking choice for...
Read moreI had an enjoyable Sunday here. And this was my first time exploring the trails with this specific park and I was surprised by the jersey park. I am parked near the museum which I would recommend that many people do especially since parking by the bridge gets really crowded due to the fascination of the scenic route. When I got inside the museum , the person at the front desk was able to guide me with the trails and all the different historical perspectives there is. The bathrooms near the museum are clean and quiet which is nice. I love that this was in the fall where there were still people around, but I never felt like I was unsafe in any way shape or form. The trail by the museum extends out all by the water where you can take the scenic route if you so choose. I will come back to explore again as there is a whole trail that runs miles upon miles at least five where you can adjust run or jog by the water. If you really wanted to you could also cross the bridge as cars, come and go. It was a nice...
Read moreWe recently visited Washington’s Crossing, and it's genuinely a charming little park. They've invested a significant amount of money into sprucing up the exterior of the houses in preparation for the upcoming 250th anniversary, and it shows beautifully.
Upon entering, I had the pleasure of meeting the gentleman at the counter. Despite my predictable question about where Washington crossed, he answered with such enthusiasm, as if it was the first time he’d ever been asked. His passion was infectious!
Additionally, there was a lady working there, dressed in historical clothing, who was incredibly interesting to talk to. We enjoyed our entire day immensely. Visiting Washington's Crossing provides a glimpse into this pivotal moment in American history, offering historical reenactments, educational programs, and beautifully maintained landscapes. It's a great place for anyone interested in American history to learn more about the Revolutionary War.
Overall, it's a beautiful place that's definitely...
