What a lovely off the beaten track, manor home, so glad we stopped by! Built in 1789, the home is well cared for and thankfully, not modernized. Original heart of pine floors with string and tar, built in the shop builders style. A wonderful staircase with a beautiful hand worked banister rail. Furnishings, while not original to the home, are of the period, and everything was well maintained and preserved. The view to the river from the home leaves you without question as to why the location was picked all those years ago. Our guide Laurie(Lori?) was sweet, kind, patient and clearly liked her job. Always a perk, finding someone who enjoys what they do! She told us that Briana would be able to answer even more of my questions, as she was extremely well versed in the Manor. We shall have to return! The best $8 you’ll spend. Don’t miss the basement. Be sure and notice the delicate dentil molding.

The tour guide was terrific but the content was lacking. Only four rooms of the home are open and they admit that they have no plans to do anything further. There's so much more to tell here that we felt it a shame that it wasn't a more thorough or complete telling. Again, our guide was great but he was limited in what he had to share.

If I could give this place -10 stars I definitely would!!! First off the trustee here is the rudest person I have unfortunately met in a long time, me and 2 other people were given a very rude lecture about how the place is not open to the public and were told very arrogantly how we weren't supposed to use the restroom and didn't care if we needed to use it that we couldn't, and they don't mind us being there but we couldn't park in the parking lot or use the restroom and to not bring our dogs down there to use the restroom in the parking lot (we didn't even have a dog with us ).... Seemed very judgmental and kinda delusional honestly, I would never in a million years recommend anyone to even visit this place let alone host a event here which is sad cause the place is gorgeous but the experience your gonna have is not even worth going...

William and Christian Eppes Gilliam built their home, Weston Manor, in 1789 on land in Prince George County that was acquired two years earlier from her cousin John Wayles Eppes. The Gilliam family arrived in Virginia in the 17th century as indentured servants. By the late 18th century through hard work and smart marriages the family had amassed several plantations in the area. Christian was the daughter of Richard Eppes of neighboring Appomattox Plantation. Weston Manor was originally known as Western Manor because it was west of Appomattox Plantation, also known as...
