Probably the best county park in the Houston area. Situate on the southwest banks of Lake Houston overlooking the spillway which leads to the more underdeveloped and natural Eisenhower park. Deussen has many picnic tables with BBQ pits and shared trash cans. There are also nearly two dozen covered pavilions. Some are available by reservation and a few are fist come first serve. All large pavilions (which vary in length and capacity) are equipped with electrical outlets and a water tap. Lots of paved trails great for jogging and youth cycling. There are also bike lanes on the major thoroughfares. Fishing is available all along the shore. Most of the shoreline is developed with bulkheads and adjacent boardwalks. There is a large pavilion over the water as well as floating docks and boat ramps great for all watercraft. The park no longer hosts a buffalo pen but it still has the duck pond full of a variety of ducks and geese as well as red-ear turtles. There is also a single male peacock with a harem of a half dozen females that can be found frequenting the pond and maintenance area. There is also a very large playground and a few smaller satellite playgrounds throughout the park. With all this park has there's no reason...

I like this park, but please don’t leave anything in your car. There are reports and evidence of smashed in cars and robberies, thieves are watching you from the time you arrive, maybe not every day but it’s happening. The same Criminals probably going from Atascocita dog park to Deussen. Only good thing is the Sheriffs office patrol regularly. I’m not going anymore because had bad experiences in Atascocita after being watched and car windows smashed and purse robbed. Nightmare! These thieves know your distracted and take advantage. I had a very strange experience there one day in Deussen Dog Pk with a car that pulled in front of me, very threatening. Glad another park visitor was there to help. I told the sheriffs about it , she was not very interested and shrugged it off! Be careful! Look around before u get out of your car. Things are bad now because of gas prices a terrible Govt and thieves not getting caught . No surveillance cameras also so you have no way to prove anything in catching these Criminals. Sad because my dog...

We love coming out to this great place. Plenty of parking, plenty of playground, bike trail, duck seeing, and most importantly, peacocks! I have never seen one up close until I came here. It's amazing, beautiful, gentle creatures. Their was an all white one, one of the times when we went. There are plenty of picnic tables. The restroom area is pretty clean with toilet paper, lol. Some parks don't have restrooms on site or even someone to check the park, but here I see workers driving around and picking up trash, checking the restroom. The cops are patrolling. Very nice peaceful place to go. You can rent the pavilions for parties. They have electricity for music and lights, moonjumps, etc. My kids enjoy going here. They also have BBQ pits. Just bring stuff to clean the tables and pits because the birds poop and the leafs and dirt...

I've been coming to this park for years now, and it's always well maintained and the trees give cover to the sun when its blazing in the sky. Today however was 71 degrees and the wind was just perfection. It wasnt chilly or warm. It was fresh as fresh can be. It was soothing, relaxing and refreshing to get out. Painting social distancing is a breeze with the space and overall grand size of the park. With access to the shore and a wild peacock coming to visit your bench every now and then l, it's just absolute bliss to be a Houstonian knowing we have sites as beautiful as this.
