Great place to take your dog even on a warm summer day as they have two pools on each side of the park that have a shallow little area for dogs that may not know how to swim and the rest has a grading that slowly makes it deeper and it's a good distance from one side to the other if you have dogs that really like to swim it's common for people to bring their hunting dogs and throw those rubber retriever things into the deep end so it's really nice for the dogs to swim in and they also have a wash station. Really the only down side to the whole thing is people who have dogs and bring them but then dont pick up their waste. There are plenty of stations that dispense doggie bags and there is also plenty of trash cans to put the waste but it seems like a lot of people still dont utilize them. They also have a play area specifically blocked off for smaller dogs Switch is nice. Theres a few seating areas that are also covered So you're not just standing in the heat. The park tends to get busy in the later hours of the day especially once everyone gets off work around five to about seven to eight. The beast time to go so that it's not so packed is in the early morning or around noon when everyone is at work but there will still be dogs to play with. It is always recommended before visiting any type of off leash dog park that you have your dogs current on Their vacations and remember with a ny off leash dog park your dog will come Into contact with other dogs and the park is not responsible for anything that happens s between the dogs or if your dog picks something...
Read moreThe park isn’t bad, but (female dog owners especially) please be aware of aggressive male dogs.
At 12:27 pm today, 12/10/2024, a male dog approached the female dog we were walking and attacked her when she rejected him. When we pulled her out of the fight and tried to leave, the dog followed us and tried to attack at least 3 times. We had to physically fight it off each time. The last time, even the owner yelled “watch out” as her dog circled around us and dashed towards our dog who was leashed the entire time. I moved in front to protect her so he lunged at me and almost reached my face, then he lunged at my mom. Only after we pushed the dog away did the owner finally gain control of her dog. She, of course, never apologized and dismissed my comment about leashing her dog. Our dog is a shelter dog from Houston Humane Society, so she plays with other dogs everyday and is very comfortable around them. It was her dog who kept approaching us and attacked. It already ran to us when we first entered the park. Our dog just ignored it and continued walking. I’m sure the several witnesses at the time can confirm what happened.
We were luckily unharmed, but what if our dog was a smaller dog? What if I was a small child? The situation could have been terribly worse.
We left the park after less than 5 minutes of entering, and another dog owner followed. I now regret not calling Animal Control right at that moment because we were so shaken up. That dog should not be around in public.
I have added a photo with the aggressive...
Read moreMy dog, Teddy, and I are regulars at Millie Bush Dog Park, and let me tell you, it's a real tail-wagger. The separate areas for small and large dogs are a lifesaver, because let's face it, Chihuahuas and Great Danes shouldn't be mixing it up like it's a canine Thunderdome. Plus, the ponds are perfect for a quick dip on a hot day, and the dog shower is a must-have after Teddy decides to roll in something particularly...aromatic.
Speaking of smells, let's talk about the squirrels. These furry little acrobats are like the park's resident rock stars, and the dogs go absolutely nuts chasing them around the trees. It's like watching a furry version of Cirque du Soleil, with a lot more drool.
But the real highlight of Millie Bush is the people. You'll meet all sorts of characters here, from the overly enthusiastic puppy parents to the grumpy old guys who just want their dachshunds to sniff in peace. It's like a melting pot of dog lovers, united by their shared obsession with all things canine.
So, if you're looking for a place to let your dog run wild and free (and maybe make some new friends along the way), Millie Bush Dog Park is the place to be. Just don't forget the poop bag.
P.S. If you see a dog walking around with a cone on its head, that's probably Teddy. He's not the brightest bulb in the litter box, but he's got a heart of gold (and a serious case of...
