Lovely park with water access, walking trails, park exercise equipment, sports fields with lighting equipment for night playing, tables and park grills, a frisbee golf course and more. I visited for the disc golf course, which was very clearly laid out, had nice baskets and concrete tee boxes. It is an 18 hole course through a pretty densely forested area. The throwing paths are thin, but well cleared out. The holes are generally short to medium distances through relatively narrow lanes crowded by trees and scrub, making this a fairly technical course that favors precision over power. The whole park is set next to the San Jacinto river, and as such is in a lowlands area which easily floods. The course appeared to be well designed to stay in the dryest areas, but it would be a soggy mud pit after heavy rains. Be ready for mosquitos at any time of day, I would recommend bringing bug repellent. The one major drawback of the park is the "K Permit Only" parking requirement mentioned in some other reviews. However, when I visited, I found what seemed to be a reasonable workaround. There is a small creek and bridge with dirt parking areas on either side of the bridge less than a quarter mile outside the park gates (photo of a couple trucks parked there attached). Parking in that area appears to be unrestricted, and when I asked a local person, he said it was fine to park there and he hadn't had a problem doing that. From there, it's less than a half mile to the start of the disc golf course. Overall, very nice park and course! Please like this review if it helped you so I will know if i should ever write something...

Read moreThis is a phenomenal hidden treasure. . . For the size of the park they have more then their fair share of great playgrounds for the children to play on. They have a boat launch that you can use to get out into the San Jacinto River that will then also take you into lake Houston as well. The trees tower above you and when you breathe you smell nothing but the pines that are there. They have trails that go all over the park as well as lead into surrounding neighborhoods and connect to their trails. They have frisbee golf set ups for you to use down at least one of the pathways that should keep at least a few busy and if you come at the right time you may see the kids walking goats outside of the park entrance from the local ffa barn. It has a ton of soccer field set ups with goals located across from the main park and having it's own separate entrance. Personally; I would recommend that if you have not at least driven through this park to see what it has in store that maybe you are in need of taking that drive right about now. Just make sure to have your little K sticker that has it's number on it so they don't tow your vehicle. While kingwood may be an actual part of houston I am of the understanding that this is not actually a city of Houston park so have fun...
