Verdegreens Farms — Attraction in Houston

I’ve been searching for a CSA or local farm to order my veggies from that grows super sustainably/ responsibly and landed on Verdegreens because they grow hydroponic plants and/or organic plants. Hyrdoponic farming is super sustainable and leaves a really small (and sometimes negative!) carbon footprint. Anyway!

I ordered their greens box, which I was able to pick up at a local farmer’s market on Saturday AM. I had a last minute emergency so I cousin pick them up, but they delivered them to my apartment when I contacted them (super nice- thanks, guys!).

The greens are pretty spectacular considering they use no pesticides and whatnot. We got a TON of food for only $25 and it’s all delicious and super fresh. The living lettuce and micro greens are really cool and unique (living lettuce comes w/ roots attached and you can put them in water and they’ll stay fresh for up to 2 weeks; the micro greens are literally tiny versions of large greens and you can sprinkle them onto your salad to get a bunch of variety in taste!).

We love everything we’ve tried so far from Verdegreens. The living lettuce is amazing and there are so many varieties to choose from. The micro greens are a huge favorite and pair with everything from tacos to avocado toast, and have also become a lunchbox staple for my elementary age kid.

Buying from Verdegreens aligns with our family’s commitment to shop locally and reduce the carbon footprint of our food. It’s great to talk to the farmers, who you can tell pour so much love into their produce and are happy to offer suggestions and make recommendations. They make it fun to try new things.
