We stayed at Site 15 in a pop-up, there is another review about some tent campers in the same site worth reading.
As a summary, we will not be returning, and it just isn't somewhere I'd recommend people to camp. Go to a different state park for the same price that will actually be a more enjoyable time. We had a decent time but honestly that's because we enjoy camping and not because of anything this location provided.
Pros and Cons
Cons: The vault toilet is not emptied enough. Staff came and cleaned the seat and do a decent job trying to clean up, but it's obvious they get emptied on a schedule and that's that. Our campsite smelled like raw sewage- and we were over 200 feet away from the toilet! No dump or fill station, only water is hand pump, non-potable. If you have a camper, load your potable water at home or somewhere else - you're not filling it here and there's no hose bibs in the entire park. We were counting on filling our popup's water here to at least have a sink. Bring gallons of water to drink. Beach has plenty of goose/swan poop but that's expected TBH. Rampant cost-cutting leads to a bunch of half-assed solutions that aren't good. The electric for most sites is half-way between two sites instead of just installing a pole at each site. This means that the distance to the electric from our site was listed at 40 feet, but it was actually 65 feet (50ft 20-amp + 15ft 30-amp cable). We saw one site where the power was at least 100 feet away from where someone would put a tent or camper. -No management on site, clientele is either campers that keep to themselves or twats that smoke J's; blast music; bring their loud, lifted, pavement princess trucks; or get blasted and harass women. No in-between. -Lake isn't well stocked with fish.
Pros: The park was pretty well serviced, grass was mowed, beach was freshly raked. Nice dark spot, good for stargazing. The lake is nice. DNR drove through once or twice a day, so they have a little bit of a presence. Sites are well isolated from each-other and are surrounded by trees. Not packing...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed at the Lakeview Cabin for 9 days. [BEWARE OF THORNY HAWTHORN TREES, had to go to the doctor in adrian for several shots and antibiotics, $250, after getting a poke in the wrist from the tree. Swole up AND hurt like hell! Its hanging directly over the cabin and all through the left side, if you were coming OUT of the cabin. BEWARE!!]
During the weekends, its PACKED. During the week, EMPTY.
Vault toilets, during my stay the ones in the campground area STANK like some weird air freshener overpowered cleaner something. Never smelled something so awful in myself it was gut wrenching. The ones at the beach were TOTALLY FINE. no stink at all.
First day, there was a double site (I believe) opposite ours. They were so completely obnoxious and screaming for hours (and then the duration of their stay 5 days)! I finally went and told them hey we're all on vacation want to relax, can we take it from screeching to normal yelling? Because I cant hear your children AT ALL, but I can hear YOU berating them.
There is a Citgo gas station with ice, beer, and usually One hot food option. (Taquito, tornado, roller) very close.
There is also a Spartan Meat Market 10-20 mins away in Hudson, along with a Family Dollar & Dollar General.
We caught snakes and fish, all catch and release. By hand and by rod both!!!
Boats, bikes, floaties, dogs, RADIOS galore! Bring them!
Beach has several picnic tables and grills, but NO shade. 3 or 4 tiny (growing!) trees, so bring some sort of a shade or umbrella if you need a break from those UV Rays.
We did not get ANY reception so forget the cell phones and WiFi. Bring cd players, boom box, extension cords, charging blocks, batteries, and all the other retro stuff :)
Everyone seemed generally very nice out there! I'm from the detroit area and we just dont get that level of respect from people everyday.
We will definitely be returning to this spog!!! We will be packing differently this time, We brought a lot, but it wasnt exactly the right stuff. Definitely a...

My husband and I drove a significant distance from Kokomo, Indiana, excited to spend five nights over the 4th of July weekend at this recreational area. Unfortunately, due to a series of unacceptable issues, we packed up and made the weary drive home after just two nights.
Our first site was immediately problematic. It was situated on such a severe slope that we needed a ladder just to reach the front door, leaving it five feet off the ground, and access to the back of our trailer where our kitchen was located was near impossible. To make matters worse, the entire site was foul: it was heavily covered in dog waste, resulting in a terrible stench and an abundance of large flies.
The logistical setup was equally poor. The hookups were ridiculously far from our rig, requiring two extension cords and spanning 60 to 70 feet. While there were closer hookups on the opposite side, we were unable to use them as a rude neighbor was using every available outlet. Finally, the firewood we purchased was delivered so late that we had already gone to bed, and it was left unattended by the road, 50 to 60 feet from our rig. Good thing the roads were unlit or I am sure someone would have made off with our firewood.
Hoping to salvage the trip, we switched to a new site the next day. While the slope and smell were resolved, we discovered there was zero shade, leaving us exposed to temperatures of 96 degrees. After one sweltering night, we were exhausted and slightly toasted by the sun. We made the decision to cut our reservation short, feeling disappointed and out of pocket.
While the staff at the check in kiosk were friendly, the overall poor condition and suitability of the sites, combined with the extreme heat and lack of preparedness, meant this was simply not the space for us. We will not...
