My review of 3 stars is not for the park itself or the staff. Both were pleasant and we'd visit again on an off weekend. The 3 stars is due to what we encountered on the beach beyond the dunes where the sand bar juts out about 75 to 100ft out. My husband and I visited the Old Iron Bridge on June 5, 2020 with our 3 children. We wandered along the trails taking photos of the areas natural beauty. It did appear that there had been a very recent fire at the location as the grass was charred along with some trees who'd fallen victim to the fire. It was a spontaneous stop on our way to Grindstone for some jet skiing. A DNR officer was incredibly helpful when I stopped her at the restrooms at the main entrance bathroom at the actual park entrance. We had been unable to find the Old Iron Bridge located next to the Buccaneer Inn. She politely directed us in the right direction and told us where to park. FYI...some online sources say to park at Buccaneer Inn as if the inn is part of the park. The DNR officer said don't park there. It's not state land. We got our pictures on the amazingly beautiful Iron Bridge. Eventually we reach the dunes and the beach below it. It has stunning views of the Michigan lakes we love so dearly and are proud say are ours as Michiganders. We walk along the beach a few feet. Maybe 50 to 75 feet away...There's party trash all over the beach right next to the water and some in it. There were also remnants of fresh campfires on the beach. There's pictures I took of some of the trash attached to this review. There were maybe 5 to 10 people on the sand bar who could clearly see the trash everywhere and one couple on the beach with us walked right by the pile and did nothing. My family and I spent an hour picking up trash, crushing cans, and condensing the trash as much as possible so that all the trash would be able to be hauled out of the water and off the beach in one trip. There was also a tire near the water. We were unable to carry it out but we did move it away from the water. We carried every ounce of trash that was there off the beach, up the dune, and out of the park. We did not have room for the trash in our vehicle to dispose of it so we put it all by the pole in the parking area and I called the park and left a message. Fast forward 15 minutes later, we arrive at Grindstone and the same DNR officer I'd interacted with at Port Crescent is at Grindstone marina cleaning those restrooms. I tell her about what we encountere and where we left the trash. I show her the photos I took of the mess. She was shocked we actually picked it up and carried it out of there. She thanked us. Needlessly I might add. We adventure often and we are firm believers in leaving no trace of our visit when we leave. We go into nature with nothing but always carry something out. Whether it be trash or a memory. If we hadn't picked up the trash it would be in the lake eventually and clearly whoever left it was too drunk and selfish to care about our state and all the beauty it has to offer. We drove past the entrance to the Old Iron Bridge on our way home to ensure the trash was removed. We'd have figured out a way to transport it to a dumpster somehow if it hadn't been. The DNR officer had, in fact, picked it up as she said she would. As I said earlier...We will be back again and hopefully enough people read this review and think twice about leaving trash or walking by someone else's trash without...

First time camping in our new to us pop-up camper. 2 adults, 2 pre-teen boys. AMAZING time! Sites are roomy and well organized. Beach is awesome! Hiking, biking, swimming, playground, campfires (not grills), decent showers and bathrooms conveniently located, close to Tip A Thumb canoe and kayak rentals, which I completely recommend adding to your trip. (bring a picnic cooler and towels to hang out at the beach before you come back!) SO happy we decide on Port Crescent to dip our toe into the camping world. Everyone was so friendly and the campground goes almost silent around 9pm, with everyone being respectful of little kids going to sleep. The adults are up at fires, but voices stay respectfully low. This is NOT the right campground for a boisterous group of hard drinking partyers. Oh, and virtually NO internet service, which we were so happy about, but is helpful to know if that will be an issue. Our kids were actually KIDS for 4 days, instead of glued to devices. TIPS: (1) Fire pits are not grills. We overcame this by bringing the rack from our home grill to set on top. Not all grill tops will fit though. The opening is 29" round, so your grill rack needs to be wider, or use a couple of flat metal strips from the hardware store to set across it, then lay your rack on top. Worked great for us. (2) Bring flip flops or crocs for in the shower. (3) The potable water is well water,...

Very dog friendly, i saw all breeds. I was at site #31. 2 motorhomes and 2 tents could fit on this site. Plenty of room at this site but I've been told some sites are really small and/or not level. Plenty of trees for shade. One way paved roads. Some sites are paved, Some are just natural dirt. I did have to ask for a map so i could locate my site. The lot numbers are on the electrical service panels. WiFi is located at the Ranger station where you check in. Most times, me, and all the other campers I've spoke to, had zero cell service so i walked to the Ranger station and was able to make WiFi calls, text and email. There are benches so you can sit outside. I would get cell service and local television channels in the evenings. I was not on a site on the beach. There's a paved ramp to get down to the beach or you can use the stairs, which are located near my site. The beach is clean and has amazing sunsets. I'm sure the sunrise is beautiful but i wasn't awake for it. There is a 2 mile hiking trail, basketball hoop, horseshoes, playground and small cabins for rent. The shower rooms are clean, good pressure, water gets warm. This is a state park so the water is hard well water. Electrical hook up, not all sites have 50amp. There is a fill and dump station on site. Trash & Recycling dumpsters. We will be...

In the words of Morpheus from The Matrix: "Welcome, to the desert of the real." We affectionately refer to this site (site 96) as the litter box. I'd normally start my review with some positive remarks but there is nothing good about this site. The bathroom lights shine into your campsite, the sound of hand dryers will be your wakeup call. Don't venture haphazardly into the site with your car, it may never leave. You can get a good grasp of how fish feel in a fish tank as passersby walk to the front, left, right, and back of you. Kindly wave as you pretend not to hear their comments about how god awful this site must be. If you're having a beach volleyball tournament then this site is perfect! Will we come back to Port Crescent State Park? Absolutely, if not for the amazing beach on Lake Huron than at the very least to see if this site (site 96) has been condemned yet. Other than the awful site we had, the park is amazing. Facilities are clean and well maintained, the staff are friendly, and the beach is clean. I forgot to mention, the night sky here is unbelievable. The longer you look the more stars you see. If you're into astrophotography or astronomy this place is for you. They have a dedicated dark sky preserve just down the road where you can set up and not have to worry about annoying lights.
