We moved to Charlotte with a wedding venue already reserved in our previous home state. We met with Gayle just to see what options would be if we were to relocate our wedding to Charlotte, and from that point on we have been wildly blown away with everything the Ivory Barn had to offer us. We immediately cancelled our contract with our other venue, and never looked back. First of all, the venue is incredible. From the custom wallpapers, to the grooms suite being on site, and all the decor options that Gayle has in the back room which help make your wedding day just slightly more affordable, what a plus! You can tell she thought of everything when building this venue. After we booked, we wanted to show our family when they would visit, and Gayle had no problem with us popping in for a quick self tour. She welcomed our families, and was proud to show off the venue where our wildest dreams would come true! She was friendly to everyone, always led with a smile, and even after the event, was checking in on us to ensure everything went smoothly! When it came time to wedding day, the weather was calling for rain, so we made a split decision to rearrange the ceremony location, thereby moving the cocktail hour location, and thereby interrupting the dinner configuration. You would have thought it went exactly as planned, and anyone that wasn’t us had no idea because every bit of the changes was seamlessly executed. What really showed me how much Gayle cares for her bride and grooms is when I dislocated my patella on the last step of our first dance. I instantly knew something was wrong, and I couldn’t put weight on my leg anymore. I let our wonderful coordinator know, and within 20 minutes Gayle had gone to CVS, purchased me a knee brace, and her husband had brought crutches from their house. Like what!?!? I literally didn’t miss a beat due to their quick thinking, kindhearted reactions, and commitment to ensuring that no matter what the circumstances are, their bride and groom will be taken care of. I cannot thank Gayle and Kevin enough for their help in making sure our wedding day went exactly how we had dreamed of. They are both kind and caring humans who saved our wedding night, allowing the party to go on, and did it all...
Read moreThe Ivory Barn is a spectacular venue and one at the top of my list. If this venue would have been built 5 years ago when I got married, there's a good chance my husband and I would have gotten married here.
As a wedding planner, I am very passionate about supporting couples choose the right venue. There are so many things that people do not think of or take into consideration when choosing a venue and then later wish they knew or considered. When I tell you Gayle thought of everything, I mean it!
The amount of detail put into this venue is top notch. From the colors to the decor to the layout to being ADA compliant, all of it matters and is a step above the rest. As a planner I always look for great suites for both the bride and groom. The Ivory Barn has this. Check. I look for a weather back up plan. The venue has this as well. Check! I look for things at the location such as are uber's near and accessible, close by accommodations, not far from town, how about a gas station in case you forget or run out of something. The Ivory Barn is in the perfect spot that none of these things are an issue. Want to bring in your own alcohol? No problem. Want to have food trucks? No problem. Want a top notch caterer? No problem because the kitchen is amazing and pristine that every caterer would consider this a dream for a venue to have.
Trust me when I tell you I have done weddings at venue's that are not set up to be functional for a wedding. Where it ends up costing you most in the long run because you have to rent and provide more things because your venue does not.
If I could give The Ivory Barn 10 stars I would. Not only because of everything I said above but because of the people who own and run it as well. You will not find a more hard working, dedicated, involved and supportive venue owner. Truly! Gayle is there to support in any way needed and it really makes a difference because you know you are not just a number and "another wedding"
SO......if you are looking for the perfect venue, look no further. I promise you, it's not too good to be true, it just really...
Read moreWe recently held our wedding at a beautiful venue managed by Gayle, the owner. The venue itself was stunning, with many thoughtful details that made it a perfect setting for our special day. Gayle's involvement in the setup was greatly appreciated by our wedding director, who valued her thoroughness and attention to detail.
While the venue was gorgeous and well-designed, we found Gayle's demeanor a bit off-putting. Although she is excellent at managing all the wedding details and was very thorough, her manner was not always kind. At one point, when we asked a question about setting a rehearsal time, we were told, "It's not rocket science. You can practice anywhere" which made us uncomfortable and hesitant to ask further questions. We had to wait until a month out to know whether we would be able to have a rehearsal at the venue, which made planning a rehearsal dinner difficult.
On the day of our wedding, Gayle was very present and helpful with the setup, ensuring everything went smoothly. However, she was also quick to rush everyone out a couple of hours before our contractual end time. This made our clean-up team (family and friends) feel pressured as the event wound down.
While the venue itself was wonderful and Gayle's design and organization were impressive, our overall experience working with her was not as positive as we had hoped. The beauty of the venue and her dedication on the day of the wedding were highlights, but the overall interactions left something...
