Bicentennial woods is a quiet getaway to nature just outside of Fort Wayne. Theres a small unpaved parking area that would comfortably park about a dozen vehicles... but I think I've only ever seen three other vehicles there at a given time. The trail starts right off the parking area, with a short descent and a couple trail options, to stay on the north loop or venture down further, cross a couple of nicely constructed trail bridges, and take the south loop which includes some stairs to the south ridge. We take our young boys with us and enjoy some time in the woods and find that either loop casually takes us around 45 minutes to an hour to do (very relaxed pace). The terrain is a bit more rugged, with hills, plenty of trip hazards, some fallen trees to navigated around or under, and close proximity to cedar creek at times. But, nothing very concerning as long as you're careful. It's just about a 10min drive from Dupont rd but feels like you're much further from the city once you're there!

The trails are rustic and open for anyone able to hike. It's not meant for wheel chairs or people that easily get winded. The trails are in good condition and are being kept up. It's pretty popular. I believe this has been the most people (young and older) I've seen on any trails. With that said, it was still peaceful, and the families I met were all friendly. I always take my German Shepherd with me she enjoyed herself too. There are lots of other pets, so be mindful if you have a grumpy one, lol.. It was big enough to hike in peace and enjoy nature on your own. I will add it to my trails I travel.

Had the entire place to myself on a sunny Friday evening and experienced so much wildlife! Disturbed a young buck from his nest and he watched me from 50 feet away. A red tailed hawk swooped up to a nearby tree and watched me go on my way from its perch. The cardinals and bluejays and array of damselflies ignored me as I trodded along. The bugs tried to eat me alive if I stopped so bug spray is heartily recommended! It rained recently so the creeks were merrily babbling away on their banks. A memorable hike in the woods!

(06/18/23) I love these woods. It's my favorite place to go and the most wild feeling area of Fort Wayne. The trails are long but not too arduous, nice and shady with dappled lighting and some sunny spots through the trees, some unique and interesting spots, and people are allowed to bring their dogs here!! I love dipping my feet in Willow Creek at least once on each walk through. One thing that confused me, at one spot, one of the main trails seemed to end short and I'm not quite sure what happened because in previous adventures, I recall walking through a more open wooded area with a wider tail. We tried to follow what looked like was left of this trail but it led behind a large building that looked kind of spooky and then it got too overgrown for our comfort so we turned back. The only thing I will add to this review that is less than perfect is that I visited here again today and I saw more litter than usual and it made me sad. On every visit before this, it was extraordinarily clean. Edit: I'm grateful to the volunteers of ACRES Land Trust who help keep these preserves...

This is one of if not the busiest Acres land trust due to it being just a short drive out of Fort Wayne. It is a beautiful property and well maintained. If your able to climb stairs (there is a set of stairs at either end of the property to help you up the big hills) you can have a great hike here. Heck you can just hike the front half of the property without the stairs and still have a great hike. It's not uncommon to see many variety of butterflies, birds, frogs, muskrats and deer here. I even meet my future wife for the first time here so it holds a even more special place in our hearts. Acres is a great organization and I encourage everyone that values nature to become a member and support the preservation of...
