I want to give a 5 star to God for the beautiful Huntington Beach. We went with my family on a weekday and had a beautiful time, we were able to get in the water and though cold at the beginning, we spent a lot of time enjoying the waves. The reason why I assigned a 1 star it is because about two weeks prior we went on a Saturday to join our group event. Yes, they warned us to come before 11am because the parking gets full. We arrived and a young man was only letting a couple of cars and trucks get in, he said they were workers. He misled us and told us to go a mile further to find parking at another location, we were on the line for over an hour. There were about 60 cars waiting. There was actually a line with no entrance, though there were parking spots that we saw. The rangers would pass and not tell us anything, nothing! They did not inform us that it was a dead line or that the entrance was closed. They didn't care at all. We realized it was closed because we decided to leave and saw that the cars were just waiting in vain. I felt bad for the cars that had hope. My point here is to inform Huntington State Beach to find a solution for the weekends, maybe double parking, maybe open parking on the streets, businesses, something, maybe allow only cars with 3 or more people in, so as to help through carpooling, and have more parking Available. Do something because what we went through that day was just so wrong. Some Families have a hard time to get together and find time off from work to find this. At least a parking authority should be present. The city CAN afford it, $15 for over 2000 cars can afford it. I was happy my family was able to enjoy a bit of the beach a few miles ahead but we were not able to be with...

I grew up just a few miles from here, and the going to the pits has always had a special place in my heart.

Building a fire and cooking food with it, followed by the obligatory roasting of marshmallows with my family is pure happiness for me. All with the ocean just 150 yards or so away.

The salt in the the air, the wind that blows in your hair. The smell of smoke and a calls of the gulls. The magnificent brown pelicans. The dolphins pods seen just a hair below the horizon at dusk. These are are just some of the wonders found here. This is what brings me back again and again.

Now an adult, living an hour and a half away in the southern Inland Empire, and closer to other beaches. When I talk about a beach trip with my daughters, this is the beach I'm talking about (well this and its sister beach, Huntington City Beach just a couples away).

After a day of waterplay, walking the pier, and shopping on Main St., the State Beach is a nice place to just sit a relax those sore feet and soak up those negative ions.

I'd love for future generations to continue to enjoy this place just as I have.

Please be respectful of the environment.

Yes, there is a rather large power plant nearby and it is ugly but remember, there is really wildlife just a couple hundred yards away.

When leaving the beach please pick up after yourself. If you see trash, even if it's not your just pick it up if you can. Please NO GLASS on the beach (bottles, jars, etc), broken glass hidden in sand...

Huntington is too crowded for my liking, it always seems to have a lot going on, it's the place to go if you're interested in seeing/doing different things because they have the bonfire pits, a road near the beach where you can skate and bike, there are restaurants across the street, there are big events on the weekend (I saw a Vans event when I went) some areas for free parking along the street "Beach" as well as metered spots (only 2 hours on certain days). I enjoyed the dog beach and parking seemed more reasonable because you can pay by the hour while the non-dog part of the beach is a flat rate of $20!! It's a good beach for swimming, not a lot of seaweed, and lifeguards are on duty. The dog beach was busy on a Monday, but not so crowded that you couldn't enjoy the beach. Some owners don't pick up after their dogs (🤢💩) and every once in a while a dog will run into your tent and sniff through your belongings, hopefully they won't find food because one puppy tried to eat our kibble bag. I think owners just need to be a little more aware of their pets and what they are doing, and ready to intervene when they're misbehaving. Pets can be unpredictable though, my dog ran over to another person's tent a few times, so I understand. I'd be back for the dog beach, but this is not my favorite beach to go to. Another drawback is the dog beach did not have showers to rinse the sand off, and bathrooms smell pretty dirty even from...

Absolutely loved it! 1st time there was Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. 200 fire pits, the ability to bring as many canopies as you want, as many tables as you want, and BBQ grills make a day and/or night here a truly unique experience. Fire pits are large and designed for wood. You won't find a grill big enough to cover the pit! You can however, bring a portable charcoal grill that will fit inside the pit. Trash cans are super close and well designed and well sealed, no odor escapes them! Parking is $15 flat fee. Discounts for Seniors and State Pass holders. Restroom building has 10 or 12 individual restrooms. Plenty of fire pits left at 10:00 AM on a Saturday of the Labor Day weekend. By 11:00 AM all pits were taken. Tons of parking, even when all the pits were full at 4:00 PM. Just an unbelievably excellent time! The surf line is a 5-minute walk from the pits, round trip 10-minutes through wonderful Orange County sand. Go here!!! Thoroughly enjoyable!!! A well-planned system, BRAVO State of California!!!!!
