I gave it five stars because I know it is definitely worth it. Our visit was three stars since we went amid the COVID pandemic, to get away and do some social distancing outside. Well, guess everyone else in NWA had a similar idea, so not much social distancing possible. As everyone else says, the hike is easy and kid-friendly and the falls are amazing. Hence why there were so many people when we visited on a Saturday. Even though it is out in the middle of nowhere. Swimming and jumping off the falls is probably also fantastic, but we couldn’t do that with the 100+ people around the falls when we arrived. So we “swam” upstream in the little pools and eddies above the falls. We will definitely be back for the main attraction and the five star experience soon though. If you can manage it, I wouldn’t plan a trip here on the weekend if you are looking...
Read moreI went to the Kings River Natural Falls today.
Water level - The water level is low right now, comes upto the shoulders of 5'6" person at the falls.. There is a swimming hole about 10 minutes of trek further down the river bed with little deeper and cooler water.
Trek - is mildly easy trek of about 1 mile one way. If you are taking kids it's not a concrete trail (you can't take strollers).
Drive - if you are travelling from Huntsville side, the pavement ends about 5 miles before the parking spot. I took a low clearance sedan on loose gravel for 5 miles. Going in a higher clearance vehicle like an SUV or truck would be better.
Parking - it's not a parking lot..there are around 10-15 parking spots by the side of the county road. Since it's not heavily trafficked parking should not be an issue..I was expecting like a supermarket parking lot for...
Read moreLoved it! We've been here 2 years ago in June, when we visited Arkansas again we just had to go back.
The ride to get over here is tough. We came from Withaker point. Google maps (download offline map!) sent us from Co Rd 5 to Co Rd 404, but 404 was a no go for our rental car. So we backed up, turned around and took Co Rd 5 to ar 16 and into madison 3605. A small detour but a way better road we definitely suggest.
It's a lovely 25-30 min hike to the falls. There was not a lot of water left because there's not been any rain. But enough to swim in.
We were there by ourselves. Definitely recommend to bring towels and water shoes. This year we came prepared! It's absolutely beautiful and a nice place to swim.
We did not see any snakes. We did see small...
