Clean, very large sites to camp in. A few trails, and a playground about a half mile from the camp area (too much of a walk to let the kids to play on their own). Only got one AT&T bar on our phone occasionally, but mostly no signal until you get to the park office about half mile away.
Would have rated it higher, had there been more to the park (kind of hard to believe this is a state park). It's basically a campground loop on the side of a highway through the woods (some cars would go super fast through there...like 60mph), with a a playground and pool down the road from it. Usually, state parks have more green areas to stroll and are larger overall. Regardless, it's clean and our kids had fun since we parked our RV in the site next to our friends in the neighboring site (19 and 21). Those are perfect sites for that kind of thing...nice green lawn between the two sites.
Make your way to Lost Valley trail about 45 min away if you have time - beautiful hike with waterfalls and a few caves (probably the most scenic area in the state....it's near the...
Read moreThis is a beautiful park. We camped for two nights and enjoyed it, except for the ridiculous number of times the park rangers came by to ‘instruct’ us on how to camp. We are frequent campers and respect the sites and other campers at all times. We have dogs that bark (only when they see other dogs) but we keep them tethered at all times at camp, yet the ranger asked us to keep the dogs behind the tents, which is just dumb since all they do is bark at other dogs as they walk pass. They are on leashes and could not get near anyone. Also we were listening to music while sitting by the fire and at 7:30ish the ranger came again and told us we needed to turn the music down (it was NOT blaring loudly).According to rules on their site, quiet time is 10pm. So many silly rules. And bored rangers seemingly with nothing better to do than make up silly rules. It is a beautiful area tho and the nearby hiking has striking views. Restrooms and showers are great, campsites...
Read moreIt was a nice little hike with different scenery from a cave, cliff sides, and wooded area. It was a little confusing starting out the hike because not alot of information on the board they have. Parking was nice enough room for vehicles. You start the trail under the bridge by the parking spots and you follow that on a narrow path why the water side to bluffs. The bluffs do have a steel cable running on the other side of the path that is tree but it is not the sturdiest as well as the few spots on the bluff that was wet. For some one scared of heights it will be a bit nerve racking. But it opens to River side with a nice view on the bluff or walking down to the bank. You keep walking a bit to get to the cave you can go in but unless you have a flash light visability is not the best. The trail continues over the cave to the top of the trail on the cliff being able to see the fields and the forest which...
