I had heard good things from people in the area about this course and was excited to check it out. I was very disappointed and cannot recommend this course to my friends. They don't provide range balls, have to pay for them so plan to spend some more to get properly warmed up. For some reason, the range was on mats only which was a huge bummer, couldnt get a tee into the mat to hit my driver before playing which proved killer as this course REQUIRES straight tee shots. The tee boxes on this course were TERRIBLE. I played from the blue tees and couldnt believe how bad the tee boxes were. They were sloped and bumpy. The second hole tee box was shaped like a turtle shell. No level spots and sloped away in all directions. Bad sloped tee boxes is a pet peeve of mine, especially when the course is so narrow and requires precision. The greens were beat to hell and there was invasive grass on a lot of the front 9 greens that caused the ball to bump along and catch air as it rolled down the line. Its super narrow off most of the tee shots. Desert and lost ball hazards on both sides of most holes. The course doesnt mark them as red hazards either so if someone was playing by the correct rules it would drive numerous re-tee and provisional shots which severely slows down play. It was a Monday but the course was packed tight and the pace was about an hour behind. We waited on the tee for up to 10 minutes a couple times as the marshal made his way around the course and then he had the balls to tell us on the 17th tee that we need to hurry it up because there was a high school girls tournament behind us a few holes trying to finish up. I laughed out loud and asked if he was kidding when he told us because we had been on the group in front of us all afternoon with nowhere to go including that 17th tee but no, he was serious. What a joke, I couldnt believe it. Multiple blind shots to the greens and fairways, you need to know your way around and stay conservative to survive here. Many of the greens have large false fronts that send you into the bunkers or water (7). It gets 2 stars because the views are legit amazing, poor playing conditions and slow pace couldn't ruin those. This course has potential, I hope they are able to fix it up but I would much rather play the other fantastic courses in the area and not bother with sky...
Read more6:30am sunday tee time 10:00am finish. The positives. Absolutely amazing views on every hole. Difficult layout kept me engaged through all eighteen holes. Cart has attached club and ball scrubber, course gps, and water stations are scattered throughout the course.
The negatives. Fairly slow greens and fairways. Very damp and muddy in someplaces, one hole on the back had two muddy bunkers with ponds in them. Food and beverage are not for sale until 7am so if you tee of early, bring your own water bottles and/or alcohol. This also means you cannot get ice in your cooler until making the turn and even then you have to take your cooler up two flights of stairs to get ice in it. I wasn't offered range balls in the pro shop so I assumed that either their ball machine would take card or that complimentary balls would be available, neither were true, the ball machine still required tokens. Never saw a beverage cart either
Not a fault of the course but worth mentioning that alcohol cannot be sold until after 10am. So while I normally wouldn't advocate bringing your own alcohol to a course, this is the exception if you tee off early.
Overall it's a course with great views but so is every other course in the area. The course maintenance was lacking and the amenities are in dire need of updates. Adding an ice machine to the cart barn is a simple, inexpensive thing that will make a big difference.
At $68 for 18 holes any time of the day in the summer, this course is a bit pricey compared to the competition. I would pay that much to come back again if the course was in...
