We're beginner/intermediate paddlers and have found we enjoy reservoirs instead of bodies of water surrounded by camps and homes. We are thinking a paddle in camp experience might be interesting to try. We visited Green River State Park mid afternoon to take a look at the area, launch, get more information and a feel for the place. We were blocked by the rudest employee we've ever encountered at a Vt State Park. She questioned our being there and wouldn't let us proceed down to the waters edge. Extremely hostile and unwelcoming. We're just regular people who love the outdoors. Instead of trying to justify our presence, we walked back to the day use parking and left. Read moreI've never camped here, just used it for the day. Best place to share a day with an old friend. It's such a large and beautiful place to casually explore while sharing deep conversations. Plenty of places to get out of your kayaks to walk around and stretch your legs, eat a little too. Bring your own food and drink for the day. There are virtually no amenities in the park besides a ranger station, some signs, and a couple outhouse. But that's the charm. Read moreOne of the most serine and peaceful places I have ever experienced. You hear nothing but silence or the occasional rustling of leaves from a woodland animal or perhaps a kayakers paddle propelling them through the glass-like waters of the Green River Reservoir.
So far removed from the sounds and stresses of everyday life, the reservoir offers kayakers a huge, expansive waterway to soak in nature while enjoying their relaxing pastime.
There is a small fee for launching your kayak but it's not one that would ruin the amazing adventure...
