What a swell place to do some kayaking with the fam. Waters aren't to wicked mid spring and early fall, though come summer the amount of boats on the lake can cause for some kayak venturing issues. I would suggest bringing a flag or sail to help boaters identify your location, or just stay between buoys and beach or don't venture too far out away from shore line. Just to inform all boaters and other motorized water craft riders/drivers, you are NOT allowed to take water craft beyond the buoys along state park beach area. This is a designated area for the safety of swimmers and kayaks (ect). The Dock Master and his team at the DNR do not look to friendly upon you docking/anchoring in these areas. Please keep these rules in mind. There are people whom live near the dam that take these rules seriously, and have Dock Masters number programmed into their cellular devices, they don't take to kindly themselves to arrogant people who bend the rules. Keep bathrooms clean and please oh please for the love of all things good, clean up your trash! LEAVE THE GLASS AT HOME, PEOPLE!!! Their is so much broken glass, do yourself and others a favor and help clean it up! Children play here bare footed all summer long, people!!!!! Think, "if this were your child or loved one". Keep this in mind because karma can literally be a twit (excuse the British swearing here). Have a great time at the...
Read moreGreat place to fish for multiple species. Trout can be found, but even though it's up in the mountains this is a decent warm-water fishery. Utah fisheries are poorly managed by people who are slaves to those holding water shares through an antiquated and Draconian system, but in spite of those bureaucratic nincompoops, there are still some gems for anglers. Give Hyrum a try. Caveat: there are lots of people engaging in powersports earlier in the year, so go early or late, or make sure your canoe or kayak is steady...
Read moreWe had lots of fun, I think the kids best part was jumping off of the dock into the reservoir. There are some things to be aware of. The road to the reservoir is on a slant and when you put your things down, unless you're in the sand your stuff is on a slant as well. The sound is also more like gravel sand. It reminds me of the beaches at Willard Bay. The reservoir also has lots of rock did it. So it's hard to walk around in some places in the water. That being said, we did have...
