Nice small museum with lots of interesting things to look at. Admission was free but a donation is recommended. And why not? Your donation is helping to preserve history! On our visit, the outside lot only had a few tanks but still very cool! They said they moved the other big stuff because they are doing some kind of renovation. That did not detract from our visit though. The only thing that bothered me was that some of the info cards for the displays I read (and to be honest I only read a few here and there) had some grammatical errors. Other than that, very nice set up. We were there about an hour. If you're just looking around, you'd probably be there less but if you're reading everything you'd probably be there longer. I would recommend a stop by. It would pair well with a history lesson if you homeschool, if your kids are learning about military history in school, or you just have interest in...
Read moreWow!!! This place is great! You don't need an I.D. card to get in since it's outside the gates of Gowen Field. It's chock full of Idaho military history, tanks, planes, medals, uniforms, stories and artifacts. Wrap all that goodness up with two amazingly knowledgeable guys, Misha and Eric, and you have a Can't Miss experience. We went through with an 8 and a 10 year old boy, and the guys were really great about answering their questions and explaining things in a kid friendly but not dumbed down manner that the boys loved. Add some cool souvenirs from the gift shop and they couldn't have been happier. Altogether a fantastic place to bring kids and military buffs...
Read moreA small, but very enjoyable museum with free admission. They have a nice display of artifacts from all the armed services and also captured equipment inside, and quite the collection of tanks outside. In addition, they have a F-86, F-4, and MiG-21 on display. One side note is that the museum is at the airport and Air National Guard base and there were A-10s flying around during our visit. Getting in is a little weird. It looks like you are coming up to the gate of the base, but you turn left into the museum parking lot just...
