Absolutely stunning and beautiful! The Capitol carries such a mighty presence and stature. We were greeted with a warm welcome that felt inviting and proud to showcase this majestic building and what it represents. On the contrary we had a bad experience with the gift shop person the way she treated us. Many of us come from long distance and effort to be proud so that was a bit off putting. The grounds and building were maintained well with purposeful care. You will very likely walk away with healthy patriot pride when you take a moment to reflect why this building, people, and services are rendered for the benefit of all. Thank you to all who came before, currently in service, and our future. Everyone there represents the voice of the people.

Such a beautiful, clean, well-kept Capitol building! The architecture was exquisite. Loved learning about the history… how it was structured with sandstone from Table Rock, that the Old Penitentiary prisoners hauled in. From the statues, to the breathtaking marble & pillsrs, inside and out, this is truly an Idaho treasure to behold. Be sure to read about Teddy Roosevelt’s part to play in Idaho’s history! Great place to bring out of town visitors when they come to stay with us. After we visited, I purchased a book for my children: “Ida Explores the Capitol” by Lori Otter (former First Lady of Idaho). It was an excellent read and perfect for parents & teachers alike.

Gorgeous building and grounds. Incredible, yet simple architecture. Self guided tour available only, but the free pamphlet or online version helps define the points of interest. The lower level exhibit really is a must for context and history. If you have a capitol passport book, the Admin office one floor up from the lower level will stamp it for you. Their number is on the door to the gift shop if it is closed. Outside monuments are not to be missed. The obelisk showing the spot where the Oregon Trail marker was placed by Ezra Meeker allows a sense of what it may have been like for people back in the early 20th century and before. Well worth the visit.

This old gal has so much history! The halls as you enter, echo with every footstep. It has the smell of an earlier century. The architecture is unique and beautiful, including the small details such as the light fixtures on the walls. Accessibility to all floors is a fascinating tour with each step. Including the mini museum on the garden level. (Basement) There is a gift shop there, and it gives you access to the soda and assorted snacks. It's a fun stop to visit, a bit dry for the kiddos, with a greater appreciation from the parents.

Open anytime to walk through, with a static museum display on a lower floor. And literally - every single door is unlocked, so you can enter at any point almost. Don't miss the room with the video virtual tour, it helps to explain each floor and how it was made, plus a look up into to the dome, which you can't get to. Lots of natural light, just a beautiful building overall! There's a small gallery of first lady's dresses on an upper floor, by the statues. Free to get and just walk around anytime!

We have such a beautiful Capitol building. The interior is stunning and the grounds outside are peaceful and well kept. Every year, two of my favorite events happen on the steps of this building. One is the yearly March for Life, that starts at Julia Davis park and ends at the steps of the capitol. The other is the National Day of Prayer, when we gather to pray for our city, state, and country. I'm so thankful to live in a country with the freedom to have these events.
