Pro's & Con's

PRO's: Close lake to visit. Picnic areas are nice. Boat ramps are wide. Plenty of parking. Beautiful scenery. Good fishing. Nice beaches and swimming areas.

CON's Do Not keep the fish you catch. There are signs warning against it because of Mercury content. The water can be clear (in the shallows) but because of the agricultural run-off and being a busy lake, the lake isn't really really clean.

OVERALL: I go to Lake Lowell 3x a week to fish with my boat. I usually do pretty good catching small and large mouth bass. I don't keep the fish for 2 reasons. 1) fish makes me sick. 2) mercury content in the lake "can" be high. The scenery is beautiful, weekdays are not busy at all. Weekends are busy. The Sheriff patrol on and off the lake very well. Nice place to picnic. I question how clean the water really is even though it can be really clear. I give this lake a 3. Like I said I fish out there 3x a week. Check it out on...

This location was chosen for a candlelight vigil for my daughter who passed away. It was a beautiful place for her closest friends together and speak of all the good times that they had at at this this location.we had a large area to gather and a couple picnic tables to display pics. The park is clean of trash. The grass was cared for and the children ran and rolled around in this plush green grass.my daughter had red hair and many refer to her as red. We let go of several red balloons there was areas with open space to do so. However there were some young people not associated with our gathering doing cookies in the parking lot.a couple individuals were concerned about their vehicles. They came close to hitting them. It was a slight damper. This was the single solid thing that...

On a mild dusky night, as I and one other walked in hopes to find enjoyment with one another, we suddenly stumbled apon a vast hungry hord of mosquito Bois. We hastened our pace, but they persisted relentlessly! "Hey! Look at those Bois" I said. She followed my words up with "These Bois crazy!" As she try to swat one away..it nosedived like a Japanese zero suicide bomber into her open eye ball. She screamed "Oh Lord!" Startled, I snapped my head in her direction "That boi got me and I just pulled a mosquito head out of my eye hole". That's when things really got out of control. The sunset was really nice however.

Great little park by the boat ramp. You can get to this park by taking Iowa all the way southwest or taking Lake Lowell all the way west. You can walk along the beach, swim, kayak, paddleboard, etc. The park has a men's and women's bathroom that are fairly clean for a park. There are picnic tables and trees for shade. It's a really nice spot to watch the sun go down and just take a walk, for there is a walking path at the back of the park. If you are coming or going to the park, watch out for deer. They come in groups and cross the street very frequently.
