I think that the camp manager is a methamphetamine addict. Their motorhome on site had its windows covered and it had "things of all sorts" spread out everywhere around the vehicle. The bathrooms were very dirty (looked like it hadnt been cleaned up all summer long) and had huge spiders all over them. The webs were huge and everywhere. In the two and a half days that we were there, we never saw them. The grass was dry and mostly dead. The fish cleaning station has been closed and inoperative for years now. I don't think that they even try to fix it! It's the one thing that makes staying in the camp site, worth the money they charge to stay there. Very disappointed in how it's been left in incapable hands. I should get a refund for having to put up with such a disappointment. If I could, I would have left half a star...and that's just for the Snake River and...
Read moreTerrible camping area. The place is overrun with spiders of all shapes and sizes. It's also overrun with large black crickets. The campsites are normal (place for your tent, a table, a grill, and fire pit on a paved surface), but don't look up! There are literally hundreds (maybe thousands) of spiders directly over your head dangling. The bathrooms at Steck Park are worse than gross. They are not cleans and freshened daily - and it shows and smells horrid (plus infested with spiders, flies, and large black crickets). We ended up going when the river was very low and drained. Dead catfish bodies everywhere. Super nasty. Doubt anyone will clean them up around the Steck park swimming area. I'll never be camping here again....
Read moreHorrible camping. Swarms of Mormon crickets, almost as many spiders. Seriously spiders, all over my tent, camp chairs and even my cooler within only a few hours of setting up camp. In the morning I literally opened my cooler and spiders fell in. I stayed 1 night!! At night incredible amount swarming bugs on my light, could not open tent without bugs, spiders or crickets getting in--and ear wigs. Then the wind picks up about 1am and beats my tent for a few hours. Oh, and the train runs through the night about every two hours blowing its horn. You are close enough to feel the ground shake. Super cheap, boat doc and fishing are good. Don't camp...at least in the lower portion...
