MY WIFE AND I ALONG WITH OUR 2 GRAND CHILDREN HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. OUR GUIDE, JOE, WAS GREAT. HE EXPLAINED THE HISTORY BEHIND TREE SAP COLLECTION FROM THE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN'S DISCOVERY OF TREE SAP COLLECTION TO THE MODERN DAY PROCESS AS WELL AS HOW A TREE GROWS AND GENERATES SAP. WE MADE 4 STOPS ALONG THE 1 MILE WALK THROUGH THE WOODS WHERE OTHER INSTRUCTORS DEMONSTRATED AND EPLAINED DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE COLLECTION PROCESS. ALL IN ALL WE FOUND THE EXPERIENCE VERY INFORMATIVE AND GOOD WAY TO ENJOY A LITTLE EXERCISE OUTDOORS. THE DAY WE CHOOSE COULDN'T BE BETTER, SUNNY AND 60 DEGREES ADDED TO THE EXPERIENCE.

OUR THANKS TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS

A wonderful area for volunteering with the McHenry County Conservation District. They have a wonderful, dedicated "guide" who knows the area very well.

Beautiful conservation area surrounded by trees. The McHenry County Conservation District has worked hard to support the native ecosystem in McHenry County and Coral Woods is a perfect example of their efforts.

While the hiking and nature trails are not paved, they are well kept and wide in most places. There are lots of birds for those who enjoy birdwatching.

The trees keep most areas shaded so you're not baking in the sun the entire time.

Plenty of free...

I recently visited this conservation area, located within a subdivision which may seem unusual for outsiders. Nevertheless, this hidden gem is one of my favorite spots in the area. The serene environment, good biking and hiking trails, and dog-friendly policy make it an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts. The well-marked trails are meticulously maintained, and the loops are ideal for short hikes. Additionally, the maple festival held here is informative and worth attending. Highly recommend a visit to this beautiful...

We went for the festival of the sugar maples. The tour was so informative and they presented it in a timeline that took you from early settlers to current methods. The final stop is with a guide who talks about the maple syrup process and shows the equipment they use. The last part of the tour is a tasting of maple syrup that they made right there at the park. It wasn't like any other maple syrup. It was delicious and complex and had slightly grassy flavor. It was a lot of fun.

Coral Woods never disappoints. We’ve walked the trails Spring, Summer and Autumn and every time we go, we discover something new. Autumn is especially beautiful. The colors are incredible! My personal favorite is walking out of the woods and into the open area which itself is completely surrounded by trees. It’s like finding a hidden gem. Best time to venture out is either just after the sun has risen or just before sunset. Rain or shine, Coral is always an adventure.
